Hi,

I'm new to the list, but wanted to say your post was interesting. It
reminded me of two things I have found in my experience:

1. It seems to be nearly impossible to converse from the realm of
experience with those who are still conversing only from the realm of
the intellect. Until one has had ones own experiences, there is no
real 'knowing' what one is talking about, even though one might have
a great ability to paraphrase books or concepts learned from others
etc..

It seems you were trying the best way you could think of to describe
experience, but those answering may have been still stuck only
speaking from intellectual conception.

2. I find your attempt to present the info without paradigms noble.
I often try this too.
I think the more experience one gets the more one is able to at least
*attempt* to translate others maps into general concepts. Universal
translation is hard though.
Between people of experience it is still alot of work, trying to use
language that both agree on that refers to the same concepts. It
takes alot of effort and openmindedness. And unfortunately, with
someone who is still forced to view things *only* from within a
particular paradigm, real communication may be impossible ( I'm not
sure).

I think it is a growth process though. One requires some map or
other to find ones way around for a long time. Later, one still has
to pick and choose which symbols to use to try to transcribe an
experience that is beyond the intellect into intellectual terms (
ie..communicate it).

There is only a problem when the realization hasn't quite sunk
through yet that all the symbols are arbitrary and the only use for
them is to have a temporary agreement of concepts to aid the process
of communication. As soon as someone insists one one set of symbols
over another, then error occurs.

Just my two cents.
