Ah, I would have begged for scraps
   from Your table long ago...

I was a beggar for waste and a thief of offal
These were my most precious jewels
   You spoiled that with one sip of wine...

What was wanted You would not give
The needed you handed out instead
   that crust became a banquet...

My crying you did not hear
Only held me like a baby
   feeding me with Your own hand...

Now, undone, I see Your face
Everywhere shining and singing
  it is my face...
