Good question, Angelique. Ha Ha ... l always laugh to myself when l think
of all the problems l've heard of in these groups.
Where the lndian gurus who have come to the west are concerned,
l'm not sure there are any modern figures who've not been scandalized. l
don't know of any dirt on Yogananda, so he may have been ok. l think some of
the 20th century masters who remained in lndia, such as Ramana, Nityananda,
Aurobindo, etc were also free of scandal. Of the empire builders who came to
the west, nearly all have fallen from grace.
Altho the Buddhist teachers, as
you know, have also had their share of problems in this area, there have been
many who have been scandal free. Certainly many of the Tibetan tulkus and
lamas have remained pure, altho again, there have been some very notable
sexual predators in this group too.
Since November l've had a Gelugpa monastery in my home, and l can personally
vouch for their purity, which is more than l can say for myself. :)
