Subject: [K-list] another thought on activism
From: Cleocatras

On 2001/01/19 13:00, Cleocatras posted thus to the K-list: Well, I know there are many times Angelique and I have gone round and round
about me sacrificing for someone else's situation to get better. I am not
saying she is not right, by any means. I just only knew a very few things in
this realm of our discussion.

My current philosophy is there are some who involve themselves in inflicting
apparent harm and suffering onto other people. These "some" are radically
purposeful and very obvious, others and an even larger group, shrouds their
agenda in "higher purpose", but whose long term effect is also creating an
unknown future hardship maybe even more profound and that most of us cannot
foresee... on the opposite end of this spectrum are the recipients of these
things...

now if we are talking about survival here, who is surviving? Those with the
aggressive, or assertive undesireable attributes, is who! As someone said it
on this list the women burned as witches were those who had special talent.
What kind of social darwinism is that???

So lets suppose we define those people in the middle who are not really
either victim or violator... the dont take sides. Has anyone ever considered
the thought that it is apathy that allows the most destruction? Ommission is
permission.

By not choosing, you have already taken sides with the aggressor or the force
that is inflicting harm. Because Omission of your disapproval is the same as
giving consent.

Now I realize this entire writing may label me as part of the low end of the
enlightened ones... everything has it purpose, including my own inperfection.
I for one, cannot stand and watch someone I love suffering... I faithfully
assist with the skills Goddess has given me, and Goddess faithfully keeps my
head just barely above water...

But Goddess miraculously does provide everything I need as I "continually
stick my stupid neck out to assist"... Goddess gets credit for an unexpected
$5800 which will stop a foreclosure this week, right there under my nose the
entire time...

Just a little side note: Dont forget to file for your EITC, your earned
income tax credit... it added up to an amount $1000 more than what was needed
to take care of the foreclosure, as I had not filed for it these last three
years.

And the outcome? This means my caregiving days are again perpetuated... and I
have no doubt I might have been one of the first ones strapped to the post in
the middle of that kindling.
