Nope, it does not.. in the West it is likely to go top-down, heart
first, or ass-backwards..:)

Yes, that is what I find. The personal issues the individual is
wrestling with at the moment tend to indicate where the consciousness is
at, in it's evolution. Each chakra is representative of a certain aspect of
being human, sex, love, money, power, transcendence, doubt, etc..
Analysis tells part of the story, the patterns of the energy body tell
the rest.. where the blockages lie, etc..

Yes, and the spiritual ideals of poverty so fundamental to ideal
Christianity are not workable for a beginner... unless they are being
handled by a sponsor, such as a Monastery.
One has no free time to contemplate the eternal verities if one is
worried about where the next meal is coming from. Those things need to be
provided for, and real-world abundance handled, before there can be the
kind faith in abundance with zero scarcity consciousness that allows the
loaves-and-fishes tricks to become possible.
The difference between a wandering Monk and the average homeless street
person is the Monk knows they will be provided for by synchronicity, and
Is.. and a street person spends all their time wondering where to find
dinner. The Salvation Army has it right.. give people food and shelter, and
then they have peace of mind to contemplate scripture.

I find the teachings of Osho to be most practical on this point.. and
it is why I find value in charging $$ for the course I wrote. If someone is
so unable to create abundance for themselves that they cannot invest $88.88
in their spiritual unfolding, then they have some real world issues to
settle before they are really ready to embark on the path of K. They have
to resolve the first step of Maslow's hierarchies before they can progress
to the second step.
It was similar for me.. I had a wide open 3rd eye in high School, and
a vocal heart voice... but not enough faith to really trust the incoming
information, so I ended up repressing the Voice and going thru Spiritual
Winter for a few years while I learned to survive as an adult.
Subsequent to it's reawakening, i moved to Vancouver and struggled with
poverty thru a number of jobs, failing because I tried to bend Shakti to my
will, and get Her to assist with everything from selling encyclopedias to
painting store windows for X-mas. At that time I was very frustrated
because there were so many courses and spiritual programs that I wanted but
could not afford.. it seemed very unfair to me, in my scarcity
consciousness. Yet, that same info was available in the Library, ... the
truth of it was that my path was stymied by my own issues of unworthiness.

It took years after I went into the Light in 1989, for me to slowly
build enough faith and trust in the guidance to do as Goddess wanted,
surrender my own ideas of what "work" was supposed to look like and become
a Pro-domina. Soon as I agreed to that path, abundance was handled and I
had the leisure to put Goddess First.. and went thru a huge growth spurt
beyond any previous experiences, where the information I had gathered
intellectually suddenly became workable.
I had the intellectual experiences gathered from reading thousands of
books, and many small miracles of my own life, but until the basic needs of
food and shelter of Maslow's first level were handled, trying to integrate
the Spiritual truths into my life so they would manifest was like banging
my head against a glass ceiling.
I had to get beyond the base level issues of survival, to see clearly
how *I* was creating the reality, the results. To see and understand that
my fears of not being provided for created my experiences of
poverty-struggle and scarcity. The people who put on the expensive courses
I wanted to take when I was poor, explained the dynamic to me, but it made
no sense till I got to the place where my mind was clear of worry enough to
observe the truth of it... and from that place I see clearly how it had to
be that way. How it would be useless, and even cruel, to go into a
homeless shelter and explain to the residents that their beliefs have
created their situation.. I'd just get lynched.

>Progressing higher up the pyramid would be sex, love and belonging,
>self esteem, self-actualization, transcendence needs. Each could have
>a mirror on the levels of the chakra.

It does.. I have spent years contemplating the similarities.. Maslow
and the chakras mirror each other.

>Synthesizing Maslow's hierarchy of needs with chakra development
>would be a good start. Who needs to reinvent the wheel? There is
>nothingnew under the sun anyway, just repackaging and a new name.

Yes, I agree.. it is not a process of re-inventing, the world doesn't
need another religion proclaiming itself to be the One True path..
What is more useful, is making a collage of pre-existing bits that are
resonant, and integrating them into an accessible form. No need to invent a
new religion, just take the relevant bits out of the philosophies already
in existence and quilt them together to make something that contains the
best of all of them with the non resonant, coercive bits shaken
out. That's what I did..

Like, The roots of Christianity are lovely, but all the fear-based
propaganda and threats of hell that became part of it, when it's shaping
was motivated by politics are clutter and dross that can be stripped away
to reveal the pure elegance of the simplicity that was it's original form.
The world is a buffet, fill your plate with the foods that meet your
taste and needs and leave the rest for others who may want it... and don't
judge them for wanting potato salad when I chose coleslaw. Any manual,
similarly needs to be a buffet of philosophies because there is no "one
true path".. limitless manifestation likes variety and uniqueness.
I have a quote from Osho on the first page of the Tantra course, that
expresses it very well:
"Always remember, whatsoever I say to you, you can take it in two ways.
You can simply take it on my authority, 'Because I say so, it must be true'
-- then you will suffer, then you will not grow. Whatsoever I say, listen
to it, try to understand it, implement it in your life, see how it works,
and then come to your own conclusions. They may be the same, they may not
be. They can never be exactly the same because you have a different
personality, a unique being. Whatsoever I am saying is my own. It is bound
to be in deep ways rooted in me. You may come to similar conclusions, but
they cannot be exactly the same. So my conclusions should not be made your
conclusions. You should try to understand me, you should try to learn, but
you should not collect knowledge from me, you should not collect
conclusions from me. Then your mind-body will grow.
"My message is not a doctrine, not a philosophy. My message is a certain
alchemy, a science of transformation."

   Blessings..
