Hi Bob,

I think, for me, I want to reinterpret Shaktipat for the westerners
and use terms/phrases that may be familiar to them. Shakti is
universal and our Eastern mystic friends were really the first, it
seems, to create a science of it and develop a taxonomy to describe
the energy and process. if that is not the case, it certainly is the
most well known and most referred to on the list here. And, newbies,
must learn a little of the language to understand what is going on.

Christian charismatics have a long history of association with
Shakti, as do Quakers, Shakers, christian ecstatics, Muslims,Sufis...
and there are the South American and African and Caribbean and Native
American et al, who have their own experiences and descriptions of K
and the process. Then there is the western mystical approach that
arises out of Europe. So much to choose from and they don't all agree.

Shakti dripping off the walls, permeating the grounds...is that what
makes a place feel 'holy' or 'sacred'? How many life changing
epiphanies happen on holy ground?

I have a friend that is powerfully charged with K. Her treatment room
has soaked up the Shakti from her healing sessions. Sometimes she
lets
me sleep in the room cause Shakti vibrates powerfully in there.

Shakti permeating our cells so much that passers by or people who
touch the hem of our garment are anointed by the Holy Spirit. Who can
predict or prevent that? who wants to refuse? I am sure there will be
some.

Muktananda writes in his "kundalini" book that shaktipat happens when
gurus appear in dreams. His Sidya Foundation has *many* documented
testimonials on the varieties of occurrences of Shaktipat and
resulting kundalini experiences. No one experience seems to be the
same.

Looking in an online Sanskrit dictionary, shakti (zakti) means most
often: power, source, might... pat means flow and similiar words...

so maybe at the source shaktipat just means a flow of power. That is
a
pretty basic and general description. (researching words in the bible
in the original language is pretty interesting too)

For me, I can certainly call it an addiction. K junkies are not
unheard of.

I am wondering if it really matters. What matters, IMHO, is there a
change in the quality of life? How do we define that quality knowing
some awakenings can be horrendous?
>

For now it seems like until we have measuring instruments built that
can begin to categorize this. Some may argue, "that's what bodies are
for" and for sure there was thousands of years of observation from
the
eastern mystic approach.

You are being sooo American :)))) (teasing you)

No frills/high test/ low risk Shaktipat. Hmmm... that assumes Shakti
can be manipulated. In some sense it can, I am sure. I suppose it
depends on your view of divinity.

And then the assumption of destroying the vehicle of
experience...hmmmm....

I think divinity is a matter of perception and it serves me to use
that perception as an interface between me and the universe. The
subconcious is communicated with in metaphors. The language of dreams
is something to be cultivated for insight into our inner self. I use
divinity metaphors to communicate with Consciousness.

I use divinity experiences in my daily life cause it serves me to and
I am something of a romantic. Deep down I think divinity, like
Kundalini, is a matter of frequency. Aren't we all on a continum of
frequency from matter to energy? Isnt it up to us to choose where we
would live, experience life?

Didja know that DNA emits light on an Ultra Violet frequency? So does
kundalini as it moves up the spine. That makes it a measureable
frequency. From personal experience I have felt Shakti moving and
changing my cells around. I have anecdotal knowledge of Shakti
morphing people into different beings physically...grow taller,
youthing, stuctural changes, on and on....

How I choose to express my life is matter of choosing something to
resonate with.

I never chose to be exposed to shaktipat but I did choose to learn
more about universal consciousness and my relationship to the
universe. Could that frequency attract the resonance that is kundalini
shakti into my life?

So many places this discussion could jump off from this point...

One answer might be, "Well, if the person is susceptible,
> they are ready, and that is 'Grace' acting through me as I give
this
> gift." Maybe... Since I mentioned shaktipat on this list, I have

Grace, grace, wonderful grace... the Guru's grace, the Lord's
grace, my grace...is it my blessing to you? I feel the blessings
returned. Giving shaktipat is blissful to me.

They feel they may might have had uninvited
shaktipat
> and, at any rate, are experiencing the physical and emotional
> extremes of a kundalini awakening. What is the best advice for
people

I think the Christians had it best when they said surrender brings
new
birth and the presence of the Holy Spirit (grace..kundalini shakti).
It's a new beginning, a new life. All things old have been made new.
Readjustment is natural. Dark nights of the Soul are expected. We are
a new creation. All bets are off.

 How do they develop
> the trust and surrender after the fact?

How do we teach newborns to breathe? Babies are born with only one
fear, the fear of falling. How do they know that? They put babies on
glass tables above the ground and watched their reactions. They were
terrified. They could see how far they could fall but did not
notice they were not falling. Now who told us grownup people that
they
are alone and unsupported in the awakening process? Not me...

Shaktipat? Better be careful. It is someone
> else's life we are energizing, and the karma shall be ours as much
as > theirs.

I would never zap someone without their permission. I don't think I
can if I wanted to. Shakti won't let me. :)))

Blessings,
Susan
