Hi Haakon,

I am very aware of these procedures and they do work.

I first read about them about 12 years ago in John Diamond's book,
Your Body Doesn't Lie.

If you want easy to read, scientific background for why kinesiology
and these other types of practices work get this book.

I have recommended 'thymus thumping' to other people to stimulate
immune system response. You are absolutely correct in stating that we
are in error to believe the thymus gland atrophies with age. That is
unhealthy. It should be a gland larger than our fist in our throat
but is usually the size of a walnut. In a baby the thymus gland fills
the throat from chin to top of the chest.

On an esoteric note the thymus is associated with a charkra called
the Soul Seat, between the 4th and 5th chakra and is associated with
the upper heart and the New Age.

You are also stimulating the movement of lymph fluid when you beat
along the sternum like that. You could add some massaging movemnt
along the clavicles too where the lymph glands accumulate. (The
collar bone may be sore when you massage it but it will go away with
repeated massaging.) The lymph fluid carres the T cells from the
thymus thru the bodies and other antibodies.

I am also greatly aware and have benefited from the temple touching
you talk about. I know it as frontal-occipital holding or the FO hold.
One open palm is place over the forehead and the other open palms is
place above the spinal axis (top vertebrae), like holding the head.

(This is another incidence of body wisdom...note mothers comforting
their children. The child lays its head against the mother's thigh
while the mother puts her hand at the back of it's head. We do this
often to ourselves when we are worried or stressed. How cool that we
can now use it consciously with intent.)

This stimulates blood vessels to open to bring more blood flow, thus
more oxygenation of the brain, so you can think clearer. On the palm
of the hand covering the front portion of the brain, you may be able
to feel a pulse that is different from the pulse of the heart. pulse
I believe it is about 80 bpm. (refer to Dr. John Thie's book: A Touch
for Health)
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0875161804/qid=967229848/sr=1-

This pulse will vary with the heart beat but is meant to always pulse
at about 80 and you can feel the body trying to self regulate itself
when the FO hold is done.

With increase oxygenation to the brain, 'light' floods into the
neurons, giving us the capacity to view hurtful situations in a new
light with objectivity.

Both these books are over 20 years old and are alternative healing
classics that have stood the test of time. Any alternative healer or
those who practice self healing and self care MUST have these on
their book shelf to begin to understand how energy works and flows
thru the body. Both of these books borrow heavily from energy
medicine from the eastern view point of accupuncture and use western
technology to validate that view.

Hope this helps,
Susan
