Isadora, you are pissing me off. I know it's because your seemingly smug
comments are coming from fear, and my fear is sparking and rumbling
up...what already exists in me...

But...have you noticed how well selective perception works?

You get a new car, you see that kind of car *everywhere?*...this is the
kind of thinking I'm talking about.

What I'm talking about is not "magical thinking" as you seem to intend
it...(and yes, it *is* magical thinking, in that it creates what you
think about...)...

Why you have not won the lottery a bunch of times is because deep down
inside you don't really believe that you *will* win the lottery. Your
whole philosophy seems to be centered around "statistical probabilities"
and therefore, the odds are not in your favor to win the lottery. You
are hundreds of times more likely to die in a flaming wreck than you are
to win the lottery...(see what I mean?)

But of course, Isadora, you *know* better, because you and your husband
have all your little statistical maps to live your lives by...and of
course your insurance to cover you in case the worst happens...*when* it
happens, oops!

Funny, you can see that statistically things will happen and you need
coverage, but you *can't* see how focusing on bad things can make them
happen. Nice little mental gymnastics, to leap right over that. But be
careful, you might stumble, fall, and injure yourself...oh, but you have
insurance for that, I forgot!

*I* don't want to live my life like that. I have spent years getting
*out* of fear and "control everything"-based thought...

I know this post seems harsh but I had to say you pushed my buttons and
so there were things that needed to be said. Maybe not nice...but they
needed to be said.

You are entitled to your opinions about this stuff, Isadora...just know
that not everyone will buy your insurance-mindset.

Blessings,
Kathy
