l'm so sorry to hear about this. You tell it so calmly, yet it sounds
like it was a terrible experience. Guess l'm empathizing strongly because of
memories of my last trip (over 4 yrs ago) that was ruined by health problems
and the fact that concerns about this have kept me from traveling since. l'm
glad you made it back ok.
 Your description of the Ukraine doesn't
surprise me in the least -- sounds like Russia when l was last there in '93.
Just a complete mess -- mafia everywhere -- not a safe place to be. l hate
to think of what it's like there now, given how much worse things have
gotten. But virtually any place is safe if you have expert guidance and
people taking good care of you. Best of luck.
