Gee, sorry the love thing hasn't worked out for you. I want to tell you that
it can work out. I've been happily married for 20 years to someone who I
love deeply and would marry all over again. Has our life been easy?
NO--it's been incredibly difficult, with many problems--money, jobs, health,
inlaws, kids with problems. But, through all this our love has grown and
matured. And I have become a much better person--more patient, loving and
unselfish--than I would have been if I had not had this relationship. And
how did all this start? The usual way--longing, horniness, neediness,
followed by dating. : D

I think it's pretty easy to love people in a general sort of way: "I love
mankind, it's people I can't stand." The really hard thing is to work it out
on a one on one basis, in love and in family life. If you want to get some
sense of how you are loved by a loving Higher Power, you can find it in the
relationships that you have with other human beings.
