Re: Interior Names and Secrecy

 Dear Mark,

Is this necessarily a bad thing? Aren't we all supposed to be *united.*

Reply: Yes it is a bad thing if someone who knows what they are doing uses
it to manipulate you. Say, 'special tantric guru initiations just for you'
are the least of your concerns. It is suggested in some old qabalistic lore
that one's evolution could be delayed for their incarnation if their interior
names are indiscriminately caste around like 'pearls before swine'.

 << People
poke fun at it, often in a personal and cruel way, and for someone naive
enough to expose themselves publically as asuch, it can have an effect on
their desire to continue on their path.>>

Perhaps. I think most people are stronger than this, though, especially
those who are strong enough to give up birth names.

Reply: I have not found this to be the case, but the contrary. Those whom I
have met who give up their birth names usually needs a few months of
psycho-therapy to help them discover what they were running from. This is
not all who do it, but most of the ones I've met. Not much different from
those who are obssessed with reincarnation because they were 'Cleopatra' back
then and now are bored secretaries, or waitresses, or others who are obsessed
with 'getting out of this veil of tears' because life really can be hard and
they can't handle it...so they run into an astral fantasy land.

<< The same is true with such inner names when they are given to us, either
by
a teacher, or best of all, from our intution (angel = 'messanger' or inner
 message, intuition).
If you get such a name, keep it where it belongs, in your heart.>>

I instinctively feel that most "secrecy" is counter productive. Sharing and
bringing into the light is preferable IMO, especially among like-minded
people. Where would many of us be if TM and Yoga had been kept a closed
secret in the East?

Reply: Most secrecy is counterproductive. But we are not talking about
initiatic organizations, or the inner group workings of something. I was
very involved with an organization, The Philosopher of Nature, for many years
to help 'dis-occultize' things, particulary in the realms of plant and
mineral alchemy which are natorious for their secrecy. What we are talking
about here are personal, inner revelations meant for your individual
development. Truths mean for the world are one things, truths ment for you
alone for your evolution are another. Discrimination is the first key on the
Path.

I hope this clairifies things.

Sincerely,
