I have not been associated with Reiki but I have a
friend who is. She's skeptical about what I am doing because she
tells me I must receive my "power" from a Master. She is second
degree and has paid a lot of money for her training. Do you think she
may be jealous because I received my power from a "Higher Master" (
Nature) and didn't have to put out one cent?

You already have the power, a Master (guru) can facilitate the
process, but I think you end up being influenced by their belief
systems rather than trusting in your own intuition. Your friend is
misguided and has limited her effectiveness if she thinks the power
comes from a Master.

I received Reiki initiations just by seeing the symbols posted.
(knocked me on my butt and made me a little dizzy for a while but i
recovered :)

It's funny how you may not realize you need a guru/teacher until
after
you have had one for awhile. They are helpful, for sure, but think of
them like training wheels on a bicycle, a temporary solution.
Dependence is natural when you're a baby, but when you grow confident
in yourself you can do without.

I would advise you to seek out many difference systems, Reiki is a
good place to start. I like Tibetan Pulsing Healing, developed by
some
OSHO students, which pumps the healer's k thru the healee.

Therapeutic Touch is another favorite. It is so mainstream you can go
to your local Barnes and Noble and pick up a copy. 'Using Your Hands
to Help and Heal' by Delores Krieger, a RN who developed this
practice, is a good little book to help you get started. And it is so
*easy* to learn, you can teach yourself like I did. Actually, from
your posts, sounds like you may already be doing it.

Studying Therapeutic Touch was the system that sent me off down the
golden metaphysical path. There are *so* many systems out there you
can pick and choose and develop your own style, but yes,
apprenticeship can be a very good thing.

I like what a teacher told me once 'life is like a cafeteria. take
what you need and don't spit on the rest.' :)

Blessings,
Susan
