Dear Brent,

Welcome! There are many wonderful, helpful people on this list. No one
here, that I know of, is involved with "money-oriented new age retreats," so
I hope you will feel at home.

I'm not exactly sure exactly what guidance you are looking for. The
following books have been of help to me:

What is Enlightenment, ed. John White (Wonderful compilation)
Kundalini, Evolution & Enlightenment, ed. John White (Another great comp.)
Energies of Transformation, Bonnie Greenwell (FULL of info. about K)
Living with Kundalini, Gopi Krishna (Autobiography)
Krishnamurti's Notebook, J. Krishnamurti (Describes his inner experiences)
The Kundalini Experience, Lee Sannella (Some case histories,)
Ecstasy in Secular and Religious Experiences, Marghanita Laski (Varied)
Talks with Sri Ramana Maharshi, Sri Ramanasraman (difficult and somewhat
  repetitive, but absolutely wonderful)
