well....... just my personal experience or what i was taught lately:
As long as you think you have to " overcome" , " fight" or work against
something ( the ego) , you are identified with it. The problem - at least for
me - is, nothing happens just by reading it in books. You might get the
idea, your mind may understand, but that´s it. It has to happen inside and
suddenly something is falling off and you just "know" or " see" or "
understand" or whatever and you smile......
As it feels to me right now nothing outside is changed. I still "use" my
personality, my talents, have my beliefs, my opinions, wishes , dreams, BUT
more and more i´m not identified with it. It´s like a costume, a tool. Why
should i " overcome" or " let go" of a tool that i need to function in this
world? the only thing i have to overcome is the attachment, the
identification with it. So to answer your question, Freyja: in my experience
and knowledge it can very well be that people, stating, they are beyond the
process of ego, have powerful personalities.
