Sorry about invoking an ancient history thread, but it caught my attention
on the way through the archives...

This sounds extremely familiar to me, a total deja vu.
I mean, the sense of pleasure because another guru has been "exposed". The
entire thread was one big "yes" scream, except for Angelique who was wise
enough to notice that it might very well be another stereotyped slander.
Why are some people on this list so hateful about gurus? I mean, not just
now, I can recall the times when I saw the same neurosis here years ago; it
didn't go anywhere. Gurus must be charlatans and fakes, and their disciples
must be weak-minded deluded people who sing "we obey you, Master" in
chorus. It is indeed true that there are such examples, and Sai Baba indeed
is one of the brightest - his Prashanti compound is one big frustration
shop, you go there normal and you return all screwed up, with all the
sexual frustrations that were extinct from Europe in the last century, but
were somehow preserved in India. I was there, saw it, came back disgusted
and disillusioned. But do I believe that Sai Baba sexually interacted with
men and boys? One could be inclined to believe it, because the entire asram
looks very anti-heterosexual, very sexually segregated; Sai Baba himself
spends ten times more time in the male part of the darsan hall, than he
does in the female one...
No, I somehow don't think so. I have a healthy respect for him, he is not a
fraud in that sense, he's a fraud in another sense. He is not a guru; he
has such mastery over astral, prana and the matter, that I haven't seen his
match anywhere, and he has depth and sharpness in the eyes that I have seen
in a very small number of people, all very advanced yogis, but he can't
convey his consciousness to others. The inner dignity of his being seems
inconsistent with human weakness. But then again, I might be wrong.
I have every reason to spit at him, Angelique and some older listmembers
know why, but I don't. The span of his consciousness, from what I saw, is
far greater than that of an ordinary human being, and he deserves my
respect for what he is, his dignity cannot be reduced. He is more of an
angel, than of a human being. JRR Tolkien would call such beings "Maiars",
they look like men but their souls are denser, brighter, more enlightened.
But he is not an avatar, far from it, I have lunch every day with people of
greater spiritual depth than him.
Why does someone scream "I told you so, I knew it" when a being such as Sai
Baba is accused of such a thing? Is it because of the "we are all human,
after all" attitude? No, we are not all human, I saw people with my own
eyes who are more godly or angelic than human, and I saw people who are
more demonic than human, and I have reasons to admire the divine and the
angelic ones, because they remind me of what I have lost when I incarnated,
they remind me of the Divine realms beyond, and I will rather admire the
ordinary losers, than diminish the embodied angels.
The "gurus are fake" screams remind me of Randi's "there are no
supernatural phenomena" screams. Why doesn't someone offer a million $ for
producing a genuine guru? It wouldn't surprise me. The raw materialists
hate everything magical and lofty, and they refuse to see and recognise it,
and human dirt hates the purity and refuses to see it. I will choose to see
the purity even when it isn't there, in hope that it will be, one day; I
will remain an optimist. The gurus are there, the embodied angels are
there, and the embodied gods are there. One just needs the eyes to see
them, one has to be pure enough to see the purity. Muddy eyes see a dirty
world.
I remember the time on the list when certain people were thrilled with the
opportunity to label me as a fake. I was disgusted, and I left the list
then. Some water flew under the bridges, since then. What did the time
tell? Angelique, you were one of the people to attack me then, and I am
very glad that you stood in Sai Baba's defense now. This shows me that my
work has sense, after all.
Sai Baba is an extremely brave man. He fights a lost battle for 70 years.
Because of my respect for his inner dignity and nature, my objections
against him will stay between him and me.
