______
All wars are fought over land and money. Sometimes women ( Helen of Troy).
The example of the Bhagvad Gita you have quoted describes one such battle,
and it is between two feuding families over a kingdom. Arjuna represents the
forces of good,(the righteous), who have lived a life of virtue and have
been conned by their cousins out of their kingdom, it is his moral quandry
which Krishna answers, which is how can one lead a righteous life and still
kill others.

The answer to this is the concept of Dharma.. one's duty.If you are a
soldier, and it is your duty to battle, battle you must..as long as you can
do it passionlessly :o)
Live in the world without being enmeshed in it :o)

It is, of course, wrong to kill.. but if you are in a position where you
must battle to survive, battle you must.( my interpretation).

Spirituality is all about the growth and evolution of the soul. Strange are
the factors that can cause such a growth. It is the Second world war, with
its 10 million dead, that has caused the world to stop fighting wars over
colonies, set the people free, and develop a more "civilised" code of
conduct over international monetary matters.
Something that Ashoka felt a thousand years ago, when he banned all war and
established Buddhism as the state religion.
Sometimes, only after you undergo the meaninglessness of war, can you rid
your soul of avarice and seek to become more humane.A stupid way of
learning, but then, no one has laid any claims that intelligence in matters
regarding the soul has been the hallmark of the human race. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
