Subject: [K-list] No suffering, no sweat, no kundalini ?
From: Mhortling

Hello, hello

Felt I had to voice my little opinion in the ongoing pain-discussion - pain
to me is real and as longs as there is something or someone experiencing the
pain, suffering is very real also. Of course the mind and the ego give
meaning and importance to the pain that usually increases it, but it's still
there. (Ever try punching a saint? )

By using concentration (focusing on something outside of the pain, works
with psychological pain too) or relaxation (going into the pain and infusing
the painful area with awareness=life energy, works best with "simple" stuff
such as cramps, bruises, broken limbs etc.) it's possible to influence the
experience of pain to a certain degree. If the pain is too intense however, I
personally have found strategies don't really work - all one can do is
surrender ! (And hope karma isn't too heavy...)

All this of course again has to do with energy circulating through the
chakras, I agree that if awareness is totally absorbed in the top chakra and
the ego (awareness in the lower chakras) is momentarily absent, pain can be
experienced on an impersonal level and loose some of the unpleasantness.
(There's also an energy- side to the phenomen of pain itself, too much
energy, too little energy or blocked energy in the organs of the body can
create pain and disease).

However the fact that there is pain, be it in the body or in the mind, tends
to draw the attention just there - and it can be a pretty heroic feat to
disentangle oneself from that. I tried to think/ pray/ meditate/auto-suggest
and relax myself out of a slipped spinal disc once (hallucinatingly
painful...) and I can say with some confidence that it unfortunately didn't
work at all. If anybody has different experiences, I'd really be interested
in learning of other/more efficient pain management methods.

And Howard wrote :

psyche. <

Now this to me seems quite self-contradicting and also doesn't correspond at
all to what many kundalini-awakened people experience.

If one takes the "ultimate reality" view (I for one do) of kundalini, it or
she IS the body and the psyche ... Or at least the driving and underlying
energy of mind and body.

Less open to discussion however is the plain fact that the movement of
kundalini is often seen to create muscular cramps which are acutely painful,
migratory aches all over the body without a pathologically identifiable
origin, splitting headaches as the brain is expanded and rewired and so on.

(little side-note: a woman with an active k., I met once, told me about how
she had had her brain x-rayed after having experienced extreme
kundalini-headache and it was shown that the hard matter of the skull had
actually expanded and changed due to shakti - anybody heard of or experienced
anything similar ?)

Also, kundalini brings out old mental patterns from the subconscious, brings
out toxins in the body, speeds up karma from the storehouse of the causal
body (so it seems at least) - all this can lead to pain, disease and
discomfort so there's another link between k. and what at first glance can
seem to be "just" unrelated imbalances of mind and body.

Of course it's stuff that's there anyway, waiting to manifest, so it's just
as good to get it over and done with.

Anyway, I'd like to know how it's possible to categorically state that
kundalini doesn't have anything to do with pain ?

Doesn't of course mean that there HAS to be pain with kundalini and I'm quite
aware of the blissful aspects of Cozmic Mama's play -

Regards,

Michael
