Hi Thomas and list,

As someone who's been having a lot of these
"entities" on a visit, I thought I'll reply to
this post. :)

This is the typical hypnagogic state, it happens
right before waking up, very often from REM
sleep.

The science view of it is that right before
the mind falling asleep, or right before
waking up, various paralyzations and
odd events may occur to the sleeping
mind.

To prepare for sleep,
the brain paralyzes the body
to hinder the body of acting out the dream
actions that occur in sleep prior to entering
actual sleep.

Thus, the mind may in many ways still be
awake right after the body has fallen asleep
and various dream images
may start up on the "celluloid
screen" of the waking mind (as opposed to the
sleeping mind).
This is called hypnopompous hallucinations.

The same thing may happen when the mind
wakes up before the body when coming out of
sleep. The body is still paralyzed, but the
mind is active and can take in all the odd
imagery that happens inside the dream state.
This is the hypnagogic state.

Many ppl experience the paralyzations
right before waking up and become very
frightened of them, as it can be difficult
to wake the body when in this state.

I have experienced it is all a matter of
control, concentration and getting used to
the state. I'll talk a little about that later
on, so scroll down. :)

Is this a big fear of yours ?

I have experienced fears taking on the body
of individuals or sensed individuals in the
dream state and it can be quite disturbing.

I agree with you. These experiences
can be very confusing
and frightening if one is not used to it
or does not understand what happens.

Many ppl do experience entities,
abduction (?) and other odd things
either during a K activation or prior.

Scriptures do talk about astral realms,
etheric projections and the realms of the
guiding deities, the devaloka.

Frightening entities are also
mentioned in scriptures and in many
new age books.
I won't touch the truth gehalt in this,
there are numerous descriptions
of the astral realms and the
astral body around.

You ask whether these experiences are
common with an active K.

I really don't know that many ppl with an
active K, but I can safely say I have
experienced them myself.
One actually happened last night.

I associate the state with a vibratory rate,
strong vibrations in the mind and body that
can control the entering or leaving the state.

The first time it happened, I was merely
puzzled, and thought I was in my room,
wide awake, but later on,
more frustrating and frightening
events took place. Some humorous stuff
has also happened in there. :)

I have experienced the Kundalini energy as
as a person, and one quite instistent at that.
I do understand why so many sources have
equated the energy with a goddess figure.
:)

The voices and talk you experience I have
seen too. In many ways it has felt like
having a teacher expounding on the energy
or scriptures in sleep and sitting there
listening to the inner guru. :)
Since one can't do anything but sit and
listen, the dream state must be a good schooling
environment. ;)

My personal interpretation of it,
(and you are of course welcome to entertain
a differing interpretation)
is that it is the higher mind
contacting the ordinary mind, or thoughts,
often subconscious ones
being created into individuals in the dream
state (or whatever it is) to make them
clear for the conscious mind and in some
instances to convince the conscious mind to
let these thoughts go, in the case of
negative thoughts and emotions.

I wonder if these experiences may not be caused
by the Kundalini energy to make us
see other aspects of the collective
energy.

The bardo state and how one may react to
fearful experiences in there
has also
been well described by
Tibetan Buddhists in their Book of the Dead.

Best regards,

Amanda.
