As I understand it, in the Western tradition anyway, there is an easy
road and a difficult road to enlightenment, the Kingdom of Heaven, or
whatever you wish to call it. Most people take the easy road, the slow
and laborious left-hand path - the path of trouble and strife and
illusion and evil. The narrow road, the right-hand path, is taken only
by a few as it requires dedication, self-discipline, and so on.
