Hi Hillary & list!

As soon as I'd heard about the concept of auras a long time ago, I badly
wanted to be able to see them - somehow the idea of colourful fields of
energy swirling around the human body really appealed to me - but
unfortunately I didn't initially see anything at all...

However after Shakti permanently invaded my life I have had periods where I
could perceive the aura around people. When it happened the first time I
congratulated myself on "my" accomplishment and somehow secretely wished that
I'd soon be able to read people like an open book and other silly stuff. Then
it just disappeared, only to come back to me unexpectedly maybe a year later.
At the time being this extended seeing is there occasionally, but it doesn't
really seem to mean anything specific. What I actually see most frequently is
the whitish part of the aura closest to the body, but on a few occasions I've
also seen the more subtle part (is this the astral body maybe?) which extends
outward and which to me usually appears a bluish purple or green.

I don't see any link to the state of mind of the person involved and there
doesn't seem to be any real clairvoyant information - it is, for now at
least, just a visual phenomenon. As far as I can understand the whole thing,
it again has something to do with energy activating the brain and an
alteration of brain-wave frequencies. Like in other instances of altered
awareness, spiritual insight etc, I feel a strong tickling and tingling
electrical sensation within the brain, this can be accompanied by a similar
feeling at the base of the spine and also usually with a throbbing feeling in
the third-eye area. It usually happens after meditation or yoga asanas, when
the mind is still and the brain hemispheres work in closer harmony with each
other. To me, this also explains the traditional yogic claim of so-called
"miracolous" powers or siddhis - slow down the usual bla-bla of the mind, put
the brain into a state of alpha-waves, allow additional energy to activate
dormant areas of the brain - nothing supernatural about it really..

And, one more (gasp..) little anecdote from when I went to India : In an
ashram in Rishikesh, I was sitting with a group of people listening to the
guru of the ashram giving a talk. I became a bit drowsy, my eyes slipped
somewhat out of focus and there it was: I could see a HUGE, brilliantly
luminous halo around the guy's head. I didn't want to believe it at first,
being a guru-sceptic and everything, but I can assure you, I checked and
re-checked and it was still there...

All the best

Michael
