People may have heard of it from the movie/tv series about that Scottish
guy with a sword (forgotten what it was called).

Anyway, it may exist beyond that, as for instance biblical references to
"the quick and the dead," i.e., the living and the dead. Perhaps it
means something esoteric, like quicksilver (mercury). It is also that
stage of pregnancy when the movements of the baby can be felt.
