Hi!
I think one must be very careful in labeling oneself as
'guru' or anything else.
From my readings of mystics, the stance seems to be
Humility Always!; one negates being elevated to any
position, because
one never knows this gift was sent by the Devil in order
to distract from the Goal, which is transcendence
(compassion). (after all,
there such a temptation to become conceited (ego inflation)
if one considers oneself to being 'special'). If nothing
else, one becomes entangled in definitions of terms (Guru,
Teacher, etc)...and to many Saints this entanglement is
exactly what the Devil desires because of its powerful
distraction from the Goal.
I think of St. Teresa of Avila who once said, 'when you
see visions of Jesus or hear His voice...it's time to wash
the floors!"
There are many such quotes in Buddhism, too.
There have been many Christian people who have received
the Stigmata, for example and in every case that I know of,
they have keep it to themselves as long as they possibly
could,
for fear of this inflation.

Hugs,
Adele
