Reading your post was like watching a chameleon standing on its head riding a
super-powered roller coaster while simultaneously reciting French surrealist
poetry to the accompaniment of 1000 kazoo-playing ballerinas. Coming from a
weirdo like me, take that as a compliment, LOL. Lady, you personify passion!

Since I'm still trying to catch my breath, all I can reply to here is the
Alpha wolf archetype. At its highest expression, Alpha is the leader/teacher
who takes responsibility for the survival and wellbeing of the pack. Worst
case scenario (except to masochists) is when Alpha is a despot and pack
members live in fear-deference to his/her every whim. Then there are the
lone wolfs who go their own way, usually considered social misfits...

Does anyone know the social structure of dolphins? I'm curious if they do
the Alpha number. Bonobos monkeys don't. They have no identified leader but
are bonded through group affection, expressed instinctually through frequent
orgiastic sex. No power hierarchy, no deal where the biggest, baddest,
smartest monkey rules. Bonobos are nature's own prototype of the free love
and peace hippy-gestalt, and they thrive quite well with this system.

I've got more bonobos than wolf in my blood. I don't want to be top dog --
it's too damn lonely. And I don't relish having to look constantly over my
shoulder to see if some wannabe-alpha is creeping up on me for a takeover.
My life is really stressed enough already.

I just want freedom to be me and hope to meet some friends along the way.
It's taken me awhile to understand that I'm the only one who can give me
license to be me. As for the friends, they find their way to me and I to
them much faster if I don't worry about trying to win their love. Instead, I
just do the best I can to keep my own heart true.
