I have begun to become really aware of how so many paths that SEEM
outwardly to be very different are all actually the same, just worded in
context of different culture and language. I've recently begun expolring
the works of St, John of the Cross, and his most noted work, 'Dark Night
of the Soul', presents a 'process' that expresses that same order of
progression, that work focusing mostly on, of course, the darkness,
'black light', immediately preceeding and ultimately the path toward
enlightenment. I also 'see' it in the biblical concept (NOT as most
organized religious interpret it, but as in mystic christianity) of the
crucifying of the flesh as part of the process of transformation in
Christ, which of course corresponds also to the principles in phycholgy
of regression of the mental ego.
