Hi Sherry,
I loved what you are practicing with meditation and
children. I just got into work and it's early and your
post was like a beam of joyous Light; thanks!
You asked for 'any suggestions or thoughts' of how
to develop children's minds for a future Kundalini practice.
I would suggest that you first teach them, gently, how
to concentrate. Firstly, it's something a child never gets
in
school (the specific simple practices of developing
concentration).
Secondly, concentration, to me, is the root of ALL
meditation
practice as well as Kundalini practice because one cannot
envison
the raising of Kundalini is one's thoughts are scattered.
With children, it can be taught as a game: rather than
concentrating on the breath in the traditional adult manner,
have
them try to remember specific numbers that you write down on
a card and flash it to them, starting off with maybe 5
seconds and
then gradually moving up to 2seconds. And the child who
remembers
the numbers perfectly gets a prize---like in a Spelling Bee
(do
they still do the spelling thing in schools?).
You can start off with squares of colors (it's a simple
exercise
and ALL the children will get these correct). Or letters of
the
alphabat.
The idea is to train their minds to focus.
For practice I still try to memorize license plates or
I'll see someone walking ahead of me and then put my vision
down on the ground and mentally describe them in detail;
height,
weight, clothes, etc.
I find the above exercises good, also for oldies but
goodies
like MOI!---so that I can keep my mind in shape as I get
older.
  Hope this inspires some ideas!

Love,
Adele
