My understanding is that the above statement about tantric meditation  
being the oldest technique is not true, altho of course it depends on which  
tantric meditation you're talking about. ln the buddhist and so called hindu  
traditions that originated in lndia, tantric practices are believed to have  
evolved later on --most are dated after 500 AD, as opposed to non-tantric  
practices which were known to have been taught by the Buddha 1000yrs earlier.  
(Of course non-tantric practices are believed to have existed centuries  
before the Buddha.)                                                   jerry
