While I know this was directed to Jeanne, since it was posted to the list I
thought'd I'd pitch in . ..

Reiki is used for healing, first self then others. The process to learn
Reiki involves classes in 3 or 4 levels, depending on the school of thought,
and attunements. The attunements are healings themselves, clearing the way
to allow the new Reiki-ite to channel the Universal Life Force or Energy.
Level One teaches hands-on healings, and the attunements for that level clear
the physical body. Level Two teaches distance healings, incorporates symbols
as foci for intent, while the attunement for that level clears the mental &
emotional bodies. Level Three/Four (Master) teaches how to teach and attune
others to Reiki, and the attunement(s) serve to boost the juice, as it were,
clearing spiritual blocks, etc.

I use Reiki in my meditations/visualizations, altho I was not "taught" this
by my Reiki Masters. Truly tho, in doing a distance healing, the essence is
a meditative process.

Receiving my Reiki II training is a large part of what either kicked my K in
or got me to a point that I was aware of it. Depends on how you want to look
at it. Either way, both K & Reiki have been quite transformative for me in
very positive ways over the last year.

One last interesting point, a good friend of mine, who is wise in many ways,
once pointed out to me that Reiki, like any other energy healing modality, is
just a step for an individual to grant themselves permission to be the
healers they already are . . . the details and rituals of each modality are
more a matter of satisfying the personality than any universal correctness .
