Yes, Yogananda used to comment that the Desert was a good place to go, he
believed (As I do...) that the energy is particulary conducive to meditation
(I think he was refering to "Joshua Tree National Monument", because it is
close to his LA ashram. I found the place had a quality of "stillness") .The
reference is found in "Autobiography of a Yogi," and the full book can be
downloaded in HTML at their web site, I have the site and can post it if
anyone's interested.

Even the SMELLS do that to me,

Many more negative ions in nature, they are good for you.
