Do you have to mix with these people?

Do you have to take their attacks as if they were personal? That is, can
you regard them more as if they were the behaviour of some sort of
inanimate objects or creatures that don't understand (like children)? It
may seem like a strange way to treat people, but the purpose is to try
and gain some separation from them (unless you don't want to of course)
so you can see things from an undisturbed perspective.

Not knowing others doing spiritual things: well, part of the path may be
developing your inner strength and independence, for now. Being
spiritual is easy when circumstances are easy and you have people to
lean on or share with. But what do you do when life hands you impossible
choices that have to be made by you alone? That's when you need to be
strong.
