A study I read about not too long ago said that there was a significant
difference between how shopping affected men and how it affected women.
Women seemed to enjoy it (?!), and spent time examining goods carefully,
thinking about what they needed/wanted, and so on, whereas the men tried
to go in and out of the places as rapidly as they could. When they
measured the physiology of the men while they were shopping, their
stress levels were actually equivalent to those of fighter pilots in
action!

I can believe it. I hate crowded supermarkets and such places. In fact,
I used to order via the Internet and just get my groceries delivered -
but I live next to a superstore now, so it seems a bit gratuitous to pay
GBP 5 to get the stuff delivered from next door...

So: if you're a male, that is probably most of the explanation you need!
