Just a lesson that everything that makes sense to us is not necessarily
correct. Sometimes it pays to read and look up information and ponder the
pros and cons. I do not take offense at your statements, but having felt the
impact of CFS and mild fibromyalgia for over 20 years, I must smile and make
comments.

*I suppose modern society is to blame.

The condition of the food that we eat, and the abuse that we heap on our
bodies in western culture probably does play a major role. Do you think
that you are isolated from this, unless you grow your own food and live in a
remote region far from any pollution, then you are not.

 Didn't Yuppies get it first??
*Through overwork and ambition etc.

One does not get CFS through overwork and ambition. But someone who feels
the need to work long hours can notice the effects more severely since the
body does not cooperate.

I still believe it is an energy
*problem as opposed to viral etc.

And I believe that you do not know what you are talking about. But, that
is ok, there are many in society that do not believe in k either. You have
the right to be ignorant and to express that point of view.

Has anybody ever isolated sufferers on
*a meditation camp away from any stimulation except meditation and yoga?
*Say for a month or six weeks? or until they recover?

Well this sounds like the treatment for TB in the old days, lots of rest
and sunshine, and if the body pulled through then fine, if not, then it was
God's will. There is a real component in any healing of belief in getting
well, but CFS is a real physical condition and for you to treat it in this
manner belies your opening statement of "namaste".

Perhaps it is an
*umbrella term and several conditions are covered.

Yes, CFS is an umbrella term in the sense that MDs do not have a good
handle on the causative factors, and many still question if the condition
even exists (MDs are like Yogis - they think they know everything). There
are many probable causative factors involved in this condition. A viral
agent is one possibility such as Epstein-barr virus and CFS conditions
resemble having mononucleosis all of the time, flaring up and then fading
away. But also other conditions are usually around, candidiasis and a leaky
gut syndrome with many food allergies are often present (that ubiquitous
yeast and its nasty invasive fungal form). Another possible causative agent
is the mercury leaking from amalgam fillings. And despite what the ADA says
mercury does leak from fillings and really wrecks havoc with the body. It
is likely that many root causes are possible, although probably just one is
required to start the process in any one person throwing the bodies feedback
mechanisms out of whack. And like all dis-ease processes, stress and mental
conditions play their part in how severely one feels the effects.

Probably all of those who have recognized their amalgams as being the root
cause of their medical problems have had CFS and/or fibromyalgia symptoms,
these symptoms disappear after amalgam removal and detox of the heavy metal
load from their body. Mercury leakage is very toxic to our biochemical
pathways and also tends to lead to candidiasis. Yes, modern society is
likely a major factor, a society that allows the use of something so toxic
that dentists have to control amalgam waste as an EPA controlled item; but
it is allowed to be used freely in our mouths, speaks volumes. But then
this is only a yuppie condition, right - (get real). But you are right
about one thing, in the old days no one would be foolish enough to place a
poison permanently in your mouth and then wonder why one got sick after 20
years of this slowly leaking and building up in your body and brain and CNS.

There is also a possibility that there is a real connection between
kundalini and CFS/fibro. I have mentioned on the KCFS list that mercury
containing herbs appeared to have been used in some tantric type of
practices with balancing use of sulfur containing compounds. Mercury really
does a number on the many sulfur biochemical pathways in our bodies. MSM is
a good modern way to obtain a bioavailable form of sulfur. Glucosamine
sulfate is useful for fibromyalgia conditions and more notably
osteoarthritis but also useful for RA. Like many aspects in this physical
world a good balance is useful - a balance between mercury to make our brain
go fuzzy and the right sulfur to balance that effect and keep us healthy and
sane. Sometimes though the sulfur pathways are so out of whack that one
can not even tolerate common foods such as broccoli, or garlic etc. - then
MSM etc. might cause more problems and not less.

Perhaps some conditions make us more prone to k type events but without the
right safeguards can lead to ill health. This actually makes some sense to
me, even though no one told it to me except my inner voice. But then I know
all to well, that inner voice could be wrong, and that reading and
evaluating and looking at the pros and cons is required. We have minds and
egos for a purpose. It is a wonderful and strange world, full of new things
to discover. Why should we believe that everything about k was known by
some past civilization. We are here in the now and should learn from the
past, using what we learn as a springboard for our own new discoveries and
explorations. We should be able to more fully understand the mechanisms of k
and integrate our physical and mental and emotional and spiritual bodies.
We should be able to integrate the experiences of the different mystic POVs
into a common understanding of what is going on with this stuff we call
kundalini and in general with what we label as spiritual.
