  I think your premise is restricting. Once K is triggered one can
reside in the lower centers and have very little to do with a mystical
experience. There are some who live below the waist. After K is
activated and one continues with celibacy they are capable of living
above the waist, utilizing the uppermost centers. Celibacy plays its
part before and after, I think.
1: Celibacy had nothing to do with awakening but lots to do with it now.

2: Yes, intentionally so.
