As I understand there are different types of Reikis. The one that was first
introduced to public by Dr Usui is called Usui Reiki which is very basic.
Then some people
are looking for some more information on what Reiki is even some of them
developed
their own Reiki schools based on their experience especially when they have
new
techniques/symbols channeled to them during their meditation. One type of
Reiki is called Tumo Reiki (which was from Tibet and believed to be
practiced by Tibetan monks since hundred years ago) and one of its symbol -
called Fire Serpent/dragon - is believed to be able to awaken K.
When people are attuned, their crown cakra and palm cakras are opened so as
to enable Reiki energy channels through the Reiki healers. The difference
between Usui Reiki 1, 2 and 3 is basically a matter of using symbols (Reiki
1 can
not use symbols, Reiki 2 can use 3 symbols and Reiki 3 can use 4 symbols
including "attunement" symbols) while the way the energy works are the same,
i.e way down from crown cakra to palm cakras.
Actually, they said that it is good for someone who is K awakened to
practice Reiki because the "cleansing" works would then be from both sides,
i.e top and bottom, therefore speeds up the travel of K to crown cakra. By
practicing Reiki regularly, at least half way from the top is
cleansed/opened so that this will "accommodate/ease" the K when it travels
up to the crown cakra (I think this is also the concept of Tumo Reiki). I
would believe that what you experienced is more K related than Reiki. May
be it is your K that builds up on the areas you mentioned especially your
head because of some blockages that somehow have not been cleared by your
Reiki energy.
I understand there were a lot of arguments on whether or not Reiki energy is
the same as K in this list some time ago and I do not want to turn this
argument "on" again. So far I am only an Usui Reiki 2 and a Prema Reiki
student and am not sure whether K-awakened. For me, it is not important
whether or not Reiki energy is the same as K. As long as it comes from God
and we use it for the benefits and good of ourselves and the people, that is
good enough for me.
