My heart breaks w/ yours; yet to quote a song, "don't mind if I fall apart,
there's more room in a broken heart..." - Carly Simon
I wont go into all the details here, but 8 yrs ago, I was put into a
position of having to have 15 cats put to sleep, they haunted me in my
dreams (waking & sleeping ) for years, until I realized it was my guilt, not
them, that haunted me. I prayed for them , gave them the most decent of
burials I could, begged their forgiveness...
They came back, and still do, brushing my legs, playing gleefully,
reincarnating, and have taught me many things. I realize this is not the
same as your situation, but let me add this. After the hurricanes of the
last few years, we took in many orphaned squirrels. Some made it, some did
not, all were released into the wild when they became "of proper age".
Three of them remained as "pets", due to physical problems which would not
have allowed them to survive in the wild. One female died. Within a few
weeks, the male died also. But he waited until I came home from work. I
cried & prayed, as I had been doing, then he managed to roll over enough to
look at me, as I stroked him. I swear, he looked me directly in the eyes,
and we were in sync. I told him how much I loved him,but that I understood.
It was ok if he wanted to leave and be with his friends, especially his
girl, "Sweetie". To go with Peace, Light & Love, and that I looked forward
to seeing them all again, someday...
He looked at me again with as much understanding as any human, said a
telepathic thank you, & good-bye, drew a deep last breath, and went
home...He's been back since, with company, very happy...
We still have one in the house, who is healthy & happy...
   In memory of Happy,
  Oneness,
Alan
