Hello Martin, You make me think, i like that...

>If it may be of some interest to you, the rest of the this text is
>quoted at: http://pages.infinit.net/carrea/physics/stapp.htm
>
<< I haven't read that yet, but I will look at it when I have some
time... >>

<< But the big problem in physics at present is that nobody knows just
what constitutes an observation: a person being conscious of an event,
or just an atom bouncing off another? >>

<< Some, but not many, I suspect! At present, that is more of a
religious concept: God's awareness sustaining the reality of all, for
example. >>

As Physics goes, the link to the article by Stapp, is a nice update on
those two statements of yours. Also the quantum mailing list, is a nice
place to find there latest theoretical debate about such questions:

http://listserv.arizona.edu/lsv/www/quantum-mind.html

But that is for the physics approach to consciousness. What about your
own, or mine, or others personal experience of it? And from where does
come this need to share this experience of consciousness with others, by
using words and theories?

<< As the physicist might say, if an event goes unobserved, is it real?
The answer is, as I understand it, "No, not until it is observed, or its
consequences are observed." Observation, unfortunately, remains
stubbornly undefined. >>

Yes. Or stubbornly to much defined.

<< Life seems to be too fast and too changeable to be able to stick to
any particular view for long. >>

One might say, for those who maintain a vessel of some kind, that life
as it grows into consciousness of itself is like the line of the Horizon
on witch we surf on. Go to much towards the ground and life seems to
start changing to fast for maintaining itself in that vessel for to
long, like an ant cough in a tornado. Go to much towards the Sky and
nothing will change anymore, Maya becomes a dead solid crystal that
breaks away in little pieces.

Consciousness seems to surf that Horizon. Is there any other way to go
explore away from that surf line, what lies behind?

Antoine
