A beautiful model of healing in Buddhist mythology with the
element of "request": Last night I heard a monk tell the story
kof the Buddha, who when beset by the forces of Mara, touched
the earth and the Earth Mother swept Mara's army off in a
flood of water....

The "high", "inner", "spiritual" all betray my "self" to the
"not-self", so whether it was my high self or my high not-self
I don't know. :)

For the sake of my happiness, I'm coming to accept it the way a
mother might love a child, as fruition of karma, and whether this
child was immaculately conceived or not matters less. I prefer
the mundane explanation, but taking responsibility for the child
makes the question of father moot. :)
