This might already be obvious to some, but I just realized something this
morning about hate for others, or the urge to eliminate another (such as
NATO performing airstrikes against Molsevic, or murder or assault in the
case where an emotionally or physically abused woman becomes a defendant
when she strikes out against her abuser). In these cases both NATO and the
abused woman are trying to eliminate or weaken the one who is not living up
to their own illusion. The U.S. government likes to keep their illusion in
tact and destroy those who don't live up to it. I am angry that an ex
abusive-spouse told viscious lies to my parents that he did not make a
physical attack on me, but rather that he and my children were physically
abused by me (!). My parents believed him and he successfully destroyed an
illusion of mine... that I had parents who believed in me. But I think
that was an illusion of my own conjuring up anyhow, because it contributed a
certain amount of sustenance, of hope.
I think we hate or want to stop destroyers of our illusions. When really,
the illusion destroyers have a purpose for us and we need to accept what the
lesson is for ourselves. These illusion destroyers where ever they may be
act the way someone on this list believes viruses do. With the war in
Kosovo, the U.S. needs to use deep introspection to see what there is for us
to learn from our participation. Maybe it is easy to see the illusion that
Milosevic is destroying with his actions, but what is our lesson?
