I am a consensual sadist, Goddess made me like that and I don't feel
any need to be forgiven for it. It is a sacred aspect of my mysticism and
my path.. and I don't follow your reasoning. If the belief is coming from a
higher level, then there is not ignorance, or the need for forgiveness, is
there???
Perhaps I am simply confused by your choice of language.. sadist and
masochist has come to me to mean there is awareness of the chosen roles,
consent has moved down from the higher levels into conscious awareness of
what is wanted and needed to provoke growth, with none of the accusations
and name calling, afterwards. Sacred. Not the same as abuse at all.
Choosing to move into the things that are feared, with the light of love
and trust to illuminate the dark places.. embracing the Tao. A certain
amount of suffering is probably inevitable on any spiritual path.
To quote Carl Jung.."There is no coming to consciousness, without pain."
The ego resists it's erosion, that's it's job, and the suffering comes of
the resistance. That's just part of living in duality.. people who are very
resistant to the idea of suffering, often will create suffering out of
their resistance to it. What is repressed, comes back stronger... suffering
may manifest in real-life events that are not considered by the ego to be
connected to the spiritual efforts, because the repression veils the truth.
I associate the kind of ignorance you describe with the terms
abuser/victim, which may mean the same thing as Sadist/masochist to you,
but to me they are very different expressions.
      Blessings..
