as in feet. :)

My main goal in life has been to keep my feet on the ground. Its this
sort of search for rocky ground that has pushed me into this direction
or that direction.

So i apologize for immediatly going into defense mode when i see someone
who appears to be flying off to mars. Reason: to me, its very lonely on
mars. You see red, but your friends, they see blue in the sky. They tell
you the sky is blue, but you dont believe them, you have on your martian
glasses.

Kundalini, or something, woke up for me early. It made me a very
spiritual kid, all i wanted to do was give into the bliss of prayer
sometimes. It was easier than life. Mars attack!

Squashing the spiritual high impulse, i became the logician. Everything
has a logical leaning, i could no longer find a basis for god. i was
very empty. life was dull, grey.

Now the logician has grown up enough to revisit the spiritual kid. I was
lucky enough to stumble into buddhism, the spiritual path for the
athiest :)! Its also forgiving enough that it lets me logically attack
it. And it still stands. So i guess in many ways, i am a sort of true
believer of Buddha Dharma. Forgive me when i get annoying, but its the
most precious thing i ever found. It doesnt need anything else to me. It
can give so much to other paths too.

Part of my own path is an instruction to not downplay or criticize other
paths. Oops? did i do that? maybe. Its easy for me to think we all have
on martian glasses. But we dont.

Under our feet is the earth. Mother. Earth Witness mudra is Shakyamuni
touching the earth.

My brain and i have travelled together to the weirdness of samadhi, in
the vien of spontaneous visions & other weird critters of meditation.
But what tunnels through all that stuff? The cool stuff. Compassion,
openness, feet on the ground wisdom.

i think we can all talk together. i may not spout lofty ideas. i may
instead talk about hiking. i may insist on my viewpoint ad infinitum
until you tell me to shut up. I love debate! my father remarked how as a
child i could argue with walls.

i am also infinitly grateful to my Guru! i cant tell you enough about
the benefits of a personal spiritual teacher! its priceless. He has the
knack of putting my feet on the ground! Yes! now that's something i can
smile about.

with maitri,
