Lovely, lovely post -- turned my heart into mush! No less a personage
than St. Teresa of Avila also wondered why we have to get thrown off
the mountain at first. She thought the repeated, temporary exiles were
part of the purification process needed so our bodies could tolerate
higher states of energy, or prayer, as she called it. Truly I have
known no hell worse than feeling abandoned AFTER I'd spent time at the
top of the mountain. But, as you say, slowly the mountain and ravine
become one. Holly
