Subject: [K-list] Who's Maitreya anyway?

Dear So & So,

How in heaven and earth, did you get to use such a beautiful name, I already
alluded in one of my first messages to you about the significance of your
name.
Please tell me .....at least... that little bit about yourself.

I appreciate your need for privacy, and I fully understand and respect your
husband's sensitivity. Say, "Hello!" to him from me. I assure you and him of
the purity of this communication.
If he feels like writing ..just a bit...to me, that would be good.
Whatever feels comfortable, that is extremely important, for you and your
husband.

About Seth...you are doing exactly the right thing...I just asked Emmy about
her digestion, so to speak, of the Seth material. She said that she picks
the gems out of the writings, lots of them, and if there is something that
she, "did not like" she discards it, "burning it on the spot." She can very
much relate to your burning of books, she has done similar things.

Of course, you have not offended me, and if you had offended me (I, ME, WIM
? ) I would have to learn from that, is it not? ...Not you....

You are asking if I do "spiritual counseling" for a living. No, but ppl. are
urging me to do so. I might have to, but don't have to... yet(?).
I do love the e-mail way of exchange, and if it is counseling, it is all
through love that comes free.
I have been involved in this kind of personal and spiritual exchange since I
was 24, I was an artist sculptor (just married) in those days, living in the
same region as Vincent van Gogh once did in Holland. A vocational school had
me take care of seminars and retreats for their students on an old farm
property in the country, approachable only by foot, bicycle, or horse.
(Maybe plane, but that would have been a muddy business, OK, a car could
make it too, but the integrity of that car was not guaranteed after a
visit.)
We lived in a ....chickenhouse. I had made it habitable of course. Ah, the
romanticism.
The vocational school did pay quite well, and gave more contact with the
community at large, for which I also organized arts-and-crafts fairs. The
money was used toward emigrating to Canada. My wife at that time worked as
secretary at a Professional Painting Training school. She had a little moped
that got her from A to B in the sometimes harsh winters. We emigrated to
Canada mostly for seclusion, just like when we went to live in Van Gogh's
environment. By the way, the monastery that I entered when I was 19 was also
in Van Gogh country but in a different part of Holland. Seclusion is a thing
that only lasts for a short time around my wife and myself.
At the moment I am again in a period of seclusion, leave of absence from
work, Kundalini related, I have had a very understanding set of managers. I
am a computer consultant. I like this E-mail seclusion :-), my wife wonders
if it is seclusion at all, my son calls it "virtual seclusion".
We just fixed up our property here, lots of rocks-and-slabs patio work,
landscaped borders. Beautiful vegetable garden, Emmy lives with plants...she
does not yet look like a plant ...but she is giving herself time...she is
the type that would succeed in it... if... I did not remind her of her
humanness once in a while. For some reason I have increased the parking area
to this property...that may mean something.

You are asking if I am gnosis?
I am the living lack of it.
I don't know (?:-)

You are asking why I am your ultimate friend?
Maitreya, an Indian follower of the Buddha, "stands for" "bodhisattva of the
future." This is of course a very simplified view.
At some point, a couple of years ago, when I recovered from a renewed
realization that time and space are not as real as I treat them to be, I
knew instantly that Maitreya's future is now, has always been now, and will
always be now... for everybody no matter when they lived, live or will live.
I was eating some Dutch delicacy in a Dutch deli closeby, and was thinking
about mediums and such and I mumbled to myself, "What bunk really,
mediums!"..." Be direct". At that point Maitreya appeared between the Delft
Blue pottery and yellow painted wooden shoes, while I took a bite of a
chicken croquet with mustard. There was at once no distinction between the
two of us. "Where there ever two of us?", I could just mumble with my mouth
full. I was at that point only Wim, the ultimate friend of everybody.
This is what Maitreya means.

So & So, your name is connected with the historical person Maitreya and the
Buddha. Shariputra is So & So's Eastern name. (Appears in the Lotus Sutra)

What about "coinciding with God", you wonder. That is the simplest mystery
ever. It is already the case, that coincidence, we are just in the "hide and
seek" mode of existence.
"Gods" call it "seek and find", knowing there is nothing to be lost, nothing
to be found.
I guess the mystery of this will remain.
