Of course you're right, and my K sure doesn't need any more
awakening. I was hoping for something more like a tameing. Didn't want
this tiger to turn into a docile house cat, but would settle for an
ocelot. Shri Anandi Ma's shaktipat was given with a peacock feather,
and she also used red roses which we had all brought. Each of us also
brought 2 pieces of fruit. I thought these items were to be offerings
and I
sniffed easily 30 plus mangoes before finding two that actually
smelled like mangoes. I wouldn't have done this if I had known that
she was going to bless the fruit and return it to us, instructing us
that only we can eat it. Had to bury them at back of fridge, where no
one would find them.
We were all cautioned to eat lite for next two weeks,
preferably vegan, and that some of us might "catch colds" Wow,
understatement, as I "caught" cold, sore throat, sinusitis, infected
left ear passage, and laryngitis. Between healthy diet and lots of
"good" fluids I've lost 7 lbs. A wonderful freebie.
    Namaste, barb

A Story To Live By by Ann Wells (Los Angeles Times)

My brother-in-law opened the bottom drawer of my sister's bureau
and lifted out a tissue-wrapped package. "This," he said, "is not
a slip. This is lingerie." He discarded the tissue and handed
me the slip. It was exquisite; silk, handmade and trimmed with
a cobweb of lace. The price tag with an astronomical figure on
it was still attached. "Jan bought this the first time we went
to New York, at least 8 or 9 years ago. She never wore it. She
was saving it for a special occasion. Well, I guess this is the
occasion." He took the slip from me and put it on the bed with
the other clothes we were taking to the mortician. His hands
lingered on the soft material for a moment, then he slammed the
drawer shut and turned to me. "Don't ever save anything for a
special occasion. Every day you're alive is a special occasion."

I remembered those words through the funeral and the days that
followed when I helped him and my niece attend to all the sad
chores that follow an unexpected death. I thought about them on
the plane returning to California from the Midwestern town where
my sister's family lives. I thought about all the things that
she hadn't seen or heard or done. I thought about the things
that she had done without realizing that they were special.

I'm still thinking about his words, and they've changed my life.
I'm reading more and dusting less. I'm sitting on the deck and
admiring the view without fussing about the weeds in the garden.
I'm spending more time with my family and friends and less time
in committee meetings. Whenever possible, life should be a pattern
of experience to savor, not endure. I'm trying to recognize
these moments now and cherish them.

I'm not "saving" anything; we use our good china and crystal for
every special event-such as losing a pound, getting the sink
   unstopped, the first camellia blossom.

I wear my good blazer to the market if I feel like it. My theory
is if I look prosperous, I can shell out $28.49 for one small bag
of groceries without wincing. I'm not saving my good perfume for
special parties; clerks in hardware stores and tellers in banks
have noses that function as well as my party-going friends'.

"Someday" and "one of these days" are losing their grip on my
vocabulary. If it's worth seeing or hearing or doing, I want to
see and hear and do it now. I'm not sure what my sister would have
done had she known that she wouldn't be here for the tomorrow we
all take for granted. I think she would have called family members
and a few close friends. She might have called a few former
friends to apologize and mend fences for past squabbles.
I like to think she would have gone out for a Chinese dinner,
her favorite food. I'm guessing-I'll never know.

It's those little things left undone that would make me angry if
knew that my hours were limited. Angry because I put off seeing
good Friends whom I was going to get in touch with-someday.
Angry because I hadn't written certain letters that I intended to
write-one of these days. Angry and sorry that I didn't tell my
husband and daughter often enough how much I truly love them.
I'm trying very hard not to put off, hold back, or save anything
that would add laughter and luster to our lives.

And every morning when I open my eyes, I tell myself that it is
special.
Every day, every minute, every breath truly is...a gift from God.

If you've received this it is because someone cares for you
and it means there is probably at least someone for whom you care.
If you're too busy to take the few minutes that it would
take right now to forward this to ten people, would it be the
first time you didn't do that little thing that would make a
difference in your relationships? I can tell you it
certainly won't be the last. I don't have to make up
silly stories about people being hit by buses or crushed by falling
disco balls for not sending this letter on. You've seen the result
of this neglect in your own relationships that you have allowed to
fade, dissolve, and fall into disrepair.
Take this opportunity to set a new trend. Take a few minutes
to send this to a few people you care about, just to let
them know that you're thinking of them. It's even better if
they're not the people you already correspond with every
week. The more people that you send this to, the better
luck you will have. And the better you'll get and reaching out
   to those you care about.
   Here's the deal:
Forward this letter to at least 10 different people; within 1
   hour of receiving it.
Do it, and reap what you sow:
luck in love, people who care for you, and that warm glowy feeling
   that comes from loving others.
Don't do it, and suffer the consequences
of being alone, wrapped up in your own affairs,
and being too busy to do the things you actually care about

May love litter your life with blessings!

JUST SEND IT!!

Do you call this spiritual? It's the same old stick and carrot technique
dressed up in new robes (or almost new, this version has been around for quite
a while). Chain letters all work by this not-so-subtle method and there is
nothing spiritual in them once you get through the veneer. Why couldn't the
letter just say "Do it, fine. Don't do it, also fine". Why the negative
implication, the subliminal pressure? This destroys an otherwise good message.
I hope that list members will not circulate it further without suitable
amendment.

God bless,
Alan

Is anybody good at interpretting omens?

Last night I woke up at 4am. I looked at my window and there was what I
think was a hawk sitting there(We have several hawks nesting near the
house). I rolled over and shouted reflexively "Get the hell out of here!"
The hawk was startled and took off knocking the support pole from my window
and closing it behind it.

So what does a night visit by a hawk mean?

Dan,

New to this list, but stepping in on this one...

Here's some information regarding the Hawk as a totem animal. It also
mentions that the hawk "has ties to the kundalini as the seat of the primal life
force." It goes on to say, "It may pop up as a totem at that point in your life
where you begin to move toward your soul purpose more dynamically."

As with anything else, take what is useful and resonates, and leave the rest
behind :). The entire article can be viewed at:

Harsha: Jan, your diet is unusual, although extremely interesting to me. How
long have you been on it? Does it include any raw vegetables, nuts and seeds
at all? I have been fascinated by raw diets since early youth and have
experimented with them from time to time. At one time I went for three weeks
on raw vegetarian foods and lost much weight. There are some yogis who are
fruitarians although it is quite rare. They are very slim and live for a long
long time. A fruitarian diet is conductive to meditation and is very helpful
in advanced stages of pranayama also. According to medical science, a diet of
fruits only would lack essential proteins and lead to problems. I do not know
if there is any scientific evidence contradicting that notion. What are your
views on this?

Hi, Emily-

Here's another web page with out-of-body travel and lucid dreaming

If you look this one up, there will more than a dozen additional OBE

Harsha: Jan, your diet is unusual, although extremely interesting to me.
How
long have you been on it? Does it include any raw vegetables, nuts and
seeds
  at all?

Jan: I have been on a diet of mainly fruits for about 10 years. Nuts, seeds
and leafy vegetables are not a part of it. Sometimes I eat a few avocados.
The vegetables that are used regularly are fruits also: paprikas, tomatoes,
cucumbers etc. When the harvest of figs is abundant, sometimes I am living
for three months on mainly figs and tomatoes. Figs contain 1% of protein, so
2 Kg mean 20 g of protein and according to Natural Hygienists (and my
experience) this will do. At least 1 Kg of tomatoes will be consumed too. So
this "extreme" diet contains more than 30 g of protein but only about 1000
Kcal. A lack of protein is impossible.

Harsha: A fruitarian diet is conductive to meditation and is very helpful
in advanced stages of pranayama also.

Jan: The dictum: "A healthy body has no desires" is very true. The awareness
of the body is diminished, so there are less distractions. The body can do
with less oxygen, because instead of being busy with toxic waste elimination
and distribution, it can relax. Mind and body are connected: one will
influence the other. An impure body is producing a lot of "background noise"
that will upset meditation or prevent one from meditating 4-8 hours at a
stroke.

Harsha: [...] According to medical science, a diet of
fruits only would lack essential proteins and lead to problems. I do not
know
if there is any scientific evidence contradicting that notion. What are
your
  views on this?

Jan: According to Natural Hygienists, all essential amino acids are present,
but I never checked it - the data is hard to find, because fruits are not
considered to be one's main food. It takes at least a month, before one is
accustomed to a diet of raw food. Then, body-chemistry will start to change.
It is a change for the better and nothing indicates any lack of nutrients.
The fingernails are a good indicator; they will become strong and shiny.
Medical science has two sides: the MD's, working with the diseased on a
'standard' diet and the 'converted' MD's who often saved their own life
first and then that of many patients. So there is evidence, but for the
'official' science it is invalid. All it's assumptions are made on the basis
of people with the 'standard' diet and the existence of a transition time is
ignored. During the transition time the toxic waste in the body is being
removed also, giving the false impression of allergy or flue-like illness.
The primary cause of obesity is the toxic waste that is accumulated in all
tissues.

Gentlemen: Am in the process of re-reading Linda Goodman's "Star Signs." In
this book, she talks about fruitarians & such...& says you should become a
fruitarian and/or (???) "pure" vegetarian only VERY gradually (she recommends
over a 15-year period) for the reasons you mentioned above. Take care,

Gentlemen,
There is a diet called, "Beverley Hills". It is essentially all fruits. It
is presented in book form. I don't recall the author, but I believe there
is an internet address.

Vegetable and grain, though certainly healthy are not a good source to
rely on for
protein. They have the lowest BVs (biological value) for protein on the
scale.
Soy is 74, rice, 59, wheat, 54, beans, 49. (fruits aren't even listed)
The highest scoring proteins comes from ion-exchanged whey isolates
yielding scores
up to 159 and physiologic effects exclusive to this type and form of
protein. (i.e.
immune enhancing properties) A good ion-exchanged whey shake can
enhance immunity up to 500%.
Cow's milk scores 91, egg white, 88, fish, 83, beef, 80, chicken 79.
Stay away from animal proteins in favor of fish, egg and milk(no to lo
fat) for various reasons.

The US RDAs for protein will just about do for a sedentary person.
But to avoid catabolic states for lean, active folk; get just under a
gram of higher quality
protein per pound of body weight each day.

Active folk carrying fat will still need more than the RDA.

Take care,
David

Dear list members,

The number of messages I get into my email box is quite big lately and
therefor I would like to diminish that.
I wonder if there is a digest-mode for this list. If not, could someone
inform me how to unsubscribe?

The period I have been part of this list has been a great learning
experience in my life, and I thank you all for that.

You are all wonderful people. Everyone dealing with his/her own personal

Living life is easy dear ones the moment we start undoing ourselves of
vices, greed, negativity, materialistic power... The change is up to
oneself thru Free Will.
