Hi Anurag,
Well one reason I need such info is simple curiosity as to whether there is
any
similarity between the Indian concept of kundalini, and ideas of spiritual
energy in
other cultures. Kurt Keutzer, Druout and other list members have confirmed that
there are similarities. If kundalini is a basic energy accessible by every
human being,
then Kundalini Yoga is one example of an all-embracing theory and set of
practises.
However, it exists in a cultural and religious context - which is fine - but if
the energy
is universal, then it's worth looking at other cultures' ideas, so we can
broaden our
understanding and maybe find some useful exercises. Do you see what I'm getting
at?

Best wishes,
Tom

Anandajyoti> We all talk of gravitation, which we measure through its effects only, same with
electromagnetic energy, which we also measure by the effects produced. And we have assigned the
name of the type of the energy as a definition, of the effects they produce. So also the life
force manifests in various forms and is also sometimes called Prana. So the life force, in the
semen or the ovum , which are physically proteins, is something other the material od semen or
the ovum.

Please Read Kabir's Doha again and again and you would understand what I meant in my earlier
post, you are referring to.

Quietness

Inside this new love, die.
Your way begins on the other side.
Become the sky.
Take an axe to the prison wall.
Escape.
Walk out like someone suddenly born into color.
Do it now.
You're covered with thick cloud.
Slide out the side. Die,
and be quiet. Quietness is the surest sign
that you've died.
Your old life was a frantic running
from silence.

The speechless full moon
comes out now.

Hi,
Divert your thinking to nice words and things and then you will be
able to describe things in a nicer way.

Well i've never met a Swami before, but last nite i did :). St. louis has
an interfaith council and we meet biannually.

Our topic was 'what does your religion or philosphy have to say about life
after death? do humans have more than one life?'

The 4 speakers were from Vedanta, Confucionism, Judaism & Ba'hai.

Swami Chatanada (i think that was his name, i only heard it a few times)
was the most laughing :). He reminded me of my own teacher who also struck
me first by his constant smiles and sponatanous laughter at appropriate
moments. (amoung other things....i could go on quite a bit and bore you
about how i met my guru, but i will spare u that tirade ;) )

Part of the interfaith meeting is we break into small groups and can query
the speakers more. there was this one gentleman who kept bringing up
subjects like the caste system and the tradtional view of women in Vedanta
as seen from western eyes. The thing that caught my attention tho, was
when this gentleman said 'So is the view with karma that one does not have
to have compassion for those in trouble? its after all, what they had
coming?'

i was thinking 'oh no! all beings are your parents ...'etcetc. Swami just
started saying 'nonono, please dont think like that, ...'

i could feel my heart center sorta start burning and 'reaching' in a way i
hadnt known before really. Maybe because of Swami's energy (Strong!).

It was a rather interesting evening.

Welp, have a good monday!

Hello!

A friend of mine is in New York working on the World Mala Project. We are
all invited to help the project in any way that we are able.

Yours in the Dharma,
julia

******************

World Mala Project
c/o The BodhiSativa Foundation
72-24 243rd Street
Douglaston, NY 11362

Dear Dharma Friend,

The BodhiSativa Foundation is initiating a project to create the world´s
longest functional mala that will demonstrate a unified movement for global
peace and compassion. This colossal mala, dedicated to non-violence and
perseverance, will serve as a symbol of the commitment made by Buddhists,
world-wide, to end the suffering of all sentient beings.

We can create a World Mala only with your help. Our goal is to collect 500,000
beads in 1998. This is a cooperative effort in which your direct contribution
will be used to create the mala. Each bead contributed will be hand-threaded
on retted hemp twine.

Here's how you can join our efforts:

* begin a bead collection in your community or sangha
* tell others of our efforts by
     - forwarding this e-mail to like-minded friends and organizations
     - posting a printed copy of this letter in highly visible locations
     - translating this invitation into international languages to reach
engaged Buddhists world-wide
     - linking the official World Mala Project website to your homepage

Beads: We ask for bead or mala donations which have been previously used in
practice (any mantra, prayer or denomination) to relieve suffering in the
world. They may be sent strung or loose, in any quantity, condition, size,
color or form.

Shipping: Please use recycled sturdy envelopes and recyclable shipping
materials. Large quantity bead donations may be wrapped in newsprint, charity-
worthy tee-shirts, towels, etc. Group packages may reduce sending costs;
ground tracking is encouraged.

Please include the following information for archival purposes:

  * Full name - Names of contributors
  * Bead count, tassel or thread color (example: 108 beads, red elastic)

Between January and August of 97, I dreamt atleast between 20 to
30 times the following dream. I negelected this dream as i normally
neglect all my dreams. But after I got to talk to Danijel Turina on this
list, I
have suddenly felt the extreme importance of t his dream. Thanks again to
Danijel.
The dream was...... that i would be sitting on shit pot at
different public places. I would be sitting in conference hall
or in office, in train, in lecture room,
or in my house with my family members
 or with friends,
 or in any position
and going through this process of shitting, and behaving normally.

I better give importance to my second dream which has repeated
atleast 15 to 20 times between august to december 97. This dream is that i
forget and lose my shoes where ever I go. Not only this but in last six
months two pairs of my shoes have been actu ally misplaced and lost in
public places.
Is this dream suggesting that I walk barefoot in public places.
Normally I walk barefoot in my house since many years. Indian roads are
not safe. I can cut my feet or get hurt. And my society and family will
get worried if i walk barefoot and I will get strange stares from public.

 Any suggestions?
shahanshah

P.S:- Before august 97, i repeatedly dreamt of missing train connections
at the last moment.

Good Day to you both,
I understand what Tom is saying, but it took a Roman Catholic nun to
explain it to me...
(I am not Catholic, I had to take classes in order for my children to be
baptized
(their father wanted them to be Catholic :), isn't that clever!) Anyway,
I asked Sr. Terese her opionion, "Why are there so many religions if
there is only One God?"
she answered, "Because there aren't any goats to sacrifice at the North
Pole"
Sr. Terese also taught 7th grade religion, which explains
the simplicity and humor of her "style" of teaching.

Why does this all have to be so complicated anyway?

If we are creating this reality:
I say we take a vote and just admit we are lazy and slow,
and make it simpler for ourselfs- when next we create?
Cut down on the confusion - give everyone goats!!!!!

heheheh

Perhaps you are stuck in your lower Chakras and it is time to move upward.
Also, maybe your use of the word "shit pot" rather than" toilet seat" is a
clear indication that some "cleansing" is required at some level.

2nd dream, forgetting your shoes, I don't have any suggestions here, for I
think it has to do with your customs, which I am not aware of. Perhaps
Danijel or someone else on the list could give their interpretation.
