NEW MOON SOLAR ECLIPSE CHART
FOR PLANET EARTH

On Feb. 26 a total solar eclipse will take place. What follows is
discussion of the horoscope of the eclipse in regard to its meaning for the
planet Earth. If you would like a copy of the chart itself, drop me an
email.

A horoscope is a map of the solar system (sometimes showing some stars) at
a particular moment in relation to a particular spot on Earth. This chart
is different. It ignores longitude and latitude and shows how the eclipse
will influence the planet as a whole.

I'm probably not the best kind of astrologer to interpret a chart like
this; I normally do more psychological interpretations and counselling.
But no one has much experience with charts for the Earth herself. What
follows is bare-bones information so that you can arrive at your own
interpretation of the chart.

We don't have a natal or birth horoscope for the Earth itself, but I've
been told to use an Ascendant of 18 Taurus for charts for the Earth. So
when I do a chart for the Earth, the first house always begins at 18
Taurus. The Sabian symbol for that degree is:

"TAURUS 18 (EARTH): A NEW CONTINENT RISING OUT OF THE OCEAN.

"KEYNOTE: The surge of new potentiality after the crisis.

"When the mind has been emptied and light has been called upon to purify
the consciousness freed from its attachment and contaminations, a new
release of life can emerge out of the infinite Ocean of potentiality, the
Virgin SPACE. What will it be used for?

" a suggestion of how to approach whatever new phase of life has been not
only hoped for, but actually confirmed. The 'technique' is simple: TO
ALLOW the infinite Potential to operate in unconstrained SPONTANEITY. This
means to have reached a state in which the conscious, rational ego is no
longer a controlling factor."

This is a transit chart; it shows where the planets will be at the moment
of greatest obscuration during the solar eclipse. There's no up or down,
because it isn't done for any one place on Earth. All it shows is where
the planets will be, what patterns they will make, and what houses of the
Earth's chart they will be in.

The chart is circular; imagine the Earth in the center. The pattern drawn
in the center circle shows the aspects the planets make to each other;
usually the pattern shows us a great deal. But what's so very unusual
about the planets right now is that they're all in one portion of the sky
spanning less than 150 degrees, and most of them are bunched in an arc of
82 degrees. This is extremely unusual, and it's one reason so many people
have predicted unusual things for this period.

This explains why there are no big major patterns drawn in the chart - the
planets are all too close together to form big patterns. The major
patterns are the close concentration of planets and a stellium that
includes Sun and Moon. You might see this as a basket pattern, but it has
no handle, unless we consider it to be the Moon's North Node.

There are no retrograde planets in this chart. When a planet is
retrograde, its function is directed in a more inward way, e.g. retrograde
Mercury is not so good for active communication, but very good for study
and research. Here everything is directed outwardly - full speed ahead!

When a planet is conjunct, square or opposite a fixed star or other
heavenly body, its force is greatly magnified by the force coming from
farther out. Almost every planet in this chart has such contacts with the
stars!

The solar eclipse takes place at the New Moon, the beginning of a new
monthly cycle. In this chart SUN and MOON are conjunct (together) at 7
degrees of Pisces.

Pisces the Fish is ruled by Neptune and may show sensitivity,
illusion/delusion or inspiration from the unconscious, psychic/spiritual
gifts/activity, hidden or occult things, etc.

The stellium falls in the planet's 10th house. In an ordinary chart this
is the house of career and fame, public achievement, and activities before
the public.

JUPITER is just before Sun/Moon, at 5 Pisces. Jupiter is the Major
Fortune, the principle of expansion. With Sun/Moon it shows expansive
activity of the will (Sun) and ease of communication of (Moon) the will in
the month ahead.

MERCURY is just after Sun/Moon, at 11 Pisces. Mercury is lower mind
(intellect) and communication (speaking, writing). It is considered good
for it to be this close to the Sun, showing the closeness of the mind to
the basic will and also good that it is not TOO close, in which case it is
described as combust or "burned" by the fire of the will. With Jupiter it
shows mental expansiveness and ease of mental activity and communication.

This stellium is on the Moon's South Node (the Dragon's Tail) at 10 Pisces,
in the East considered a point of group karma.

Here are the Sabian symbols for these degrees The first sentence is the
symbol; anything else included is Rudhyar's interpretation.

"PISCES 5 (JUPITER): A PARADE OF ARMY OFFICERS IN FULL DRESS.

"...The socializing process is pictured in all its intensity but what is
implied even more is the support that the socialized person can expect from
the collectivity if he is ready to act and to sacrifice himself for the
nation or the group.

"The Keyword is GROUP-RESPONSIBILITY."

"PISCES 7 (SUN and MOON): A GIRL BLOWING A BUGLE.

"KEYNOTE: A call to participation in the service of the race, as an
evolutionary crisis approaches.

"...In traditional symbolism the woman refers more specifically to the
biological and psychic aspect of human life; she is seen primarily as the
mother, and/or the intuitive or 'psychic' type of person. A new race of
human beings may well be slowly unfolding some of its potential of
consciousness and fulfillment. The individual who envisions this
evolutionary development 'sounds the call.' He or she is both herald and
mutant. In that sense such a human being is both an individual true to his
original nature and a dedicated person - dedicated to the future he or she
holds in latency as does a seed in mutation.

"...a new form of consecration of the individual to the Whole. Tomorrow
acts through today; it SUMMONS men to rebirth."

"PISCES 10 (SOUTH NODE): MEN TRAVELLING A NARROW PATH, SEEKING ILLUMINATION.

"KEYNOTE: The capacity inherent in every individual to seek at whatever
cost entrance to a transcendent realm of reality.

"This refers to the ancient and eternal symbol of the Path of Discipleship.
The greatness of man is that he can always be greater; and the belief -
deeply rooted in man's inner nature - that if he fulfills the necessary
conditions he can find 'Elder Brothers' who have already attained a higher
level of consciousness and will transfer their attainment and light to him.
The Path is always open to the pure in heart, the mentally aware, the
conqueror of emotions, and the spiritually self-mobilized.

"This symbol opens ... a new level of consciousness. Man is always in the
making and remaking. He can always go further, reach beyond. But he has
to take the first step. Someone can show him the Path, but he alone can do
the walking. Thus the Zen injunction: WALK ON."

"PISCES 12 (MERCURY): IN THE SANCTUARY OF AN OCCULT BROTHERHOOD, NEWLY
INITIATED MEMBERS ARE BEING EXAMINED AND THEIR CHARACTER TESTED.

"KEYNOTE: The ... challenge presented to the individual by the group in
which he has claimed acceptance - the challenge to prove himself and his
ability to assume responsibility effectively.

"... At the occult level the testing seems to be controlled and
irrevocable. The 'initiate' has become a constituent part of an integrated
field of mental-spiritual activity. He is therefore controlled by the
structural order of his group. He is no longer seeking; having found his
place, he must prove himself able to fulfill the function associated with
it. He is no longer 'free' as an individual, for he has become a part of
an integrating Whole operating under structural principles of immense
antiquity.

"...He has at all times to prove his worth. QUALIFICATION is an apt Keyword."

Looking to the stars, Jupiter is on the exact degree (5 Pisces) of Deneb
Adige (alpha Cygni). Cygnus is the constellation of the Swan. I
understand this to be a high center connected with our solar system. The
old books say it has the influence of Venus and Mercury combined.

It is also with Fomalhaut at 4 Pisces. Fomalhaut (alpha Piscis Austrini),
Watcher of the Sky in the South, is one of the four Royal Stars of Persia.
It "is a first-magnitude rose-colored sun, endowing those ruled by it with
hypersensitivity. Hence the need for sequestered living often becomes a
convenient defense mechanism. To create in solitude, to concentrate in a
laboratory or work on a composition at night offers a haven of joy and
happiness." Its nature is also signified as Venus/Mercury.

Mercury is within 4 degrees of Achernar (alpha Eridani) at 15 Pisces. Its
nature is given as similar to that of Jupiter.
---------------------------

The major aspects to the Sun/Moon stellium come from two planets - Pluto
and Chiron - and both are in the Earth's 7th house of marriage and
partnership.

CHIRON is a recently discovered planetoid or small planet that seems to be
connected to healing and teaching. Chiron was the legendary/mythical
teacher of Centaurs and some men. A Centaur himself, he was only partly
human. A human/alien Wise Old Man figure.

Here Chiron is the only planet on an angle of the chart, and it is exactly
on it. It is thus if great significance. It is on the Descendant, the
point of marriage and partnership, at 18 Scorpio. It is trine (120
degrees) the stellium, an aspect of ease in/through healing and teaching/
ancient wisdom.

SCORPIO 18 (CHIRON): A PARROT REPEATS THE CONVERSATION HE HAS OVERHEARD.

KEYNOTE: The capacity to transmit transcendental knowledge.

"...we are given a hint as to man's capacity to attune himself to sources
of higher wisdom if he can be sufficiently attentive and careful in
channeling a 'higher Voice.' To stress here the negative element of
automatism and unintelligent repetition is to use only one's intellect.
All birds in symbolism suggest spiritual faculties or forces. What is
evoked is the possibility of learning from higher Intelligences. Keyword:
CHANNELSHIP."

PLUTO, planet of death, transformation, and rebirth; sex; the occult;
change that may appear sudden but has been growing for some time; depth
psychology; and things that are underground or come from underground
[Kundalini?], is at 8 Sagittarius, also in the house of marriage and
partnership. It squares (90 degrees) the stellium, indicating that the
transformation process will not be an easy one. But the charts of all
famous people who have achieved through their own power hold squares and
oppositions: strength comes through struggle.

"SAGITTARIUS 8 (PLUTO): "A MOTHER LEADS HER SMALL CHILD STEP BY STEP UP A
STEEP STAIRWAY."

"KEYNOTE: The need in any social situation to assist the less evolved in
their management of the problems which society requires its members to
solve.

"A staircase does not present a NATURAL difficulty to a very young
child.... Social and cultural living is not 'natural.' The child must
first be taught by example, then helped along as he imitates as well as he
can the grownup's behavior....

"....What is implied here is SOCIAL CONCERN for the less evolved of
society's members."

Pluto is nearing exact conjunction with Antares (alpha Scorpii), Watcher of
the Sky in the West, and opposition to Aldebaran (alpha Tauri), Watcher of
the Sky in the East. (These stars are also square [90 degrees] the planets
of the stellium.) This axis is extremely powerful and the energies are
difficult to handle.

"Mightiest of them [the stars] is Antares, the rival of Mars, located in 9
degrees Sagittarius with only 4 degrees of south latitude. A binary star
shimmering in alternating ruby red, the color of Mars, and the turquoise of
Jupiter, it is so large that the orbit of Mars could snugly fit into its
equatorial circumference.... an electromagnetic dynamo, whose radiation is
like Uranus's force intensified to the nth degree.... But when a native is
able to harmoniously assimilate this high frequency, spectacular feats are
a consequence, and fame and fortune the reward.... "

"Aldebaran, one of the Royal Stars of Persia, is in 9 Gemini, of slight
latitude of 5 south. It shimmers in pale rose tints.... It cannot be said
that Aldebaran when conjoining Sol in your chart, is particularly
fortunate. Its terrific vibratory rate harasses one's nervous system."
--------------------------

Three planets are together in the Earth's 9th house of religion and
philosophy, higher education, long-distance travel and adventure. Venus
(25 Capricorn) is conjunct Neptune (1 Aquarius), which is widely conjunct
Uranus (10 Aquarius).

VENUS is the Minor Fortune, the planet of the emotions; beauty, sense of
beauty, and pursuits or occupations related to beauty; and social "savvy."
It is also the second symbol (with the Moon) of the feminine principle
and/or woman/women in a chart.

"CAPRICORN 26 (VENUS): A NATURE SPIRIT DANCING IN THE IRRIDESCENT MIST OF A
WATERFALL.

"KEYNOTE: The ability to perceive the hidden and creative spirit of natural
phenomena.

"We can ...speak of 'the soul of nature,' and at a cosmic level of 'the
World-Soul,' ANIMA MUNDI. Water is the substance of the telluric
manifestations of this soul.

"...a deep intuition of superphysical energies.... The consciousness here
becomes sensitized to the downward flow of OCCULT ENERGY in its bountiful
nature aspect."

Venus is conjunct the Peacock (alpha Pavanis) at 24 Capricorn.

NEPTUNE is the planet of the subconscious and inspiration from/through it,
illusions, delusions, and dreams. With Venus it suggests a close tie,
easy access, between emotions and subconscious. If it shows a woman she
would have an aura of mystery, perhaps a psychic/spiritual woman.

"AQUARIUS 1 (NEPTUNE): AN UNEXPECTED THUNDERSTORM.

"KEYNOTE: The need to develop the inner security which will enable us to
meet unexpected crises.

"....here we are primarily concerned with social, collective processes and
the function of the individual within them. The symbol itself ... could be
given a very positive meaning in an arid environment, but the emphasis on
'unexpected' tends to accent the sudden and dangerous character of the
event. Such a thunderstorm in a region of dry hills can cause a
devastating flood. At any rate, it refers to an event for which ONE IS NOT
PREPARED - a menace to men's works.

"....Nature may reduce to impermanence the seemingly most permanent
endeavors and constructive activities of men. Under a downpour of rain,
adobe brick can return to mud. All human institutions and their
achievements can be washed away, even in their day of great glory. 'Dust
you were, dust you must become.' This is NATURE'S CHALLENGE."

Neptune is conjunct Altair (alpha Aquilae), "a pale yellow star sometimes
called the 'Bird of Jove.' From that you may gather that its influence in a
nativity bestows prophetic vision, a serious mind."

URANUS,  the higher octave of Mercury, is the planet of intuition;
high-level electric energy; sudden occurrences; and strange, unusual,
exotic things and people. It is a triple sign and considered bisexual.
It's the ruler of Aquarius, sign of the new age. In conjunction with
Neptune it shows the intuition and the subconscious on the same
wave-length, perhaps sudden things having to do with Neptune matters, etc.

Uranus is the final dispositor of this chart. It is the only planet in the
sign which it rules. The stellium is in Pisces, so to look farther for
their interpretation we look to the ruler of Picses, which is Neptune,
which is in Aquarius, ruled by Uranus. Saturn is in Aries, ruled by Mars,
which is in Pisces, ruled by Neptune in Aquarius, ruled by Uranus. In such
a way the lines to every planet come from Uranus. It is also the most
highly elevated planet in the chart (nearest the top). It is extremely
important in this chart.

"AQUARIUS 10 (URANUS): DURING A SILENT HOUR, A MAN RECEIVES A NEW
INSPIRATION WHICH MAY CHANGE HIS LIFE.

"KEYNOTE: The need to rely upon inner inspiration and guidance at the start
of new developments.

"What is implied here is the essential value of keeping open to the descent
of spiritual or Soul forces, especially when a new period of individual
activity is about to begin....

"...It refers to the OVERSHADOWING of the individual consciousness by an
inner, yet transcendant, Power."

Uranus is opposite a group of three stellar objects at 8-9 Leo - the two
Aselli (Asses) and the beautiful cluster Praesepe. The old books call 8
Leo a "degree of blindness," but I have found it to be prominent in the
charts of spiritual/psychic people. So I think those degrees have to do
with light, insight, illumination, etc.
- ----------------------------

SATURN is the Great Teacher that brings lessons to be learned, through
which we grow. It is the principle of contraction and condensation,
planet of cold, slow things; attention to detail; practicality; and
traditional planet of death. Here it is on the cusp of the 12th house of
hidden and secret things, things done in secret or in private, research,
large institutions such as hospitals, psychic things, and karma.

When Saturn goes through a person's 12th house, whatever he has left undone
or neglected to take care of, will catch up with him. When Saturn comes to
the Ascendant and enters the 1st house, a time of new responsibilities is
at hand. When Saturn was in my 12th, I had neglected to have check-ups for
several years and had to have three surgeries. Then when it went into the
1st house, I got a wonderful new job with new responsibilities.

Saturn is sextile Uranus, a minor aspect of ease in the working together of
those two energies. It is square Venus, an aspect of difficulty, of
conflict, for a human perhaps of depression. It is trine Pluto, showing
the principle of contraction and lessons working with the principle of
transformation. It is quincunx (150 degrees) Chiron on the Descendant,
showing some frustration, perhaps uncomfortable things, perhaps illness,
until the balance of these energies is achieved.

"ARIES 17 (SATURN): AN EMPTY HAMMOCK STRETCHED BETWEEN TWO TREES.

"KEYNOTE: A constructive alternation of activity and rest.

"...the ability to balance outer vitalistic activity and withdrawal from
such activity and relaxation. The owner of the hammock is active, but in
his consciousness he can hold the image of rest in the midst of
reenergizing nature. ...Potency may be preserved and extremes avoided.
Time is found for recuperation.

"...a middle path between total involvement in instinctual or social
drives, and withdrawal in impotent silence and narcissism - thus LIVING
RHYTHMICALLY."

Saturn is conjunct Alpheratz (alpha Andromedae) at 14 Aries, said to be of
the nature of Jupiter and Venus, the two Fortunes. It is also square
Sirius (alpha Canis Majoris), a binary star known as Sothis (Isis) to the
Egyptians. It is said to be of the nature of Jupiter/Mars.
-------------------------

MARS, the action planet, planet of physical expression and energy,
traditionally the god of war, may signify the physical planet in this
chart. It is the second planet, with the Sun, that shows the masculine
principle and/or male figures.

In this chart Mars is in a weak position; that is, it doesn't seem to be
one of the stronger, more important planets here. (This is in relation to
the Earth's chart and may not be true of the chart as it affects you.)
Mars is sextile Venus, the feminine principle, the emotions - male and
female, and/or physical and emotional working well together. It is trine
Chiron on the point of marriage and partnership, an aspect of easy flow of
energies. It may also show healing to the planet and/or healing in
physical expression.

PISCES 25 (MARS): [original symbol] A NEW MOON THAT DIVIDES ITS INFLUENCES.

[Rudhyar's version] WATCHING THE VERY THIN MOON CRESCENT APPEARING AT
SUNSET, DIFFERENT PEOPLE REALIZE THAT THE TIME HAS COME TO GO AHEAD WITH
THEIR DIFFERENT PROJECTS.

"KEYNOTE: A keen appreciation of the value of individualized responses to
any challenge of life.

"The rather obscure original notation [symbol] , when translated into
practical terms refers to the fact that, confronted with the opportunity to
expand their energy along new lines, modern individuals will react
according to their own personal characters. One basic cosmic-spiritual
impulse will lead these varied personalities to take equally varied steps.
In any society that glorifies individualism, everyone should therefore
accept this fact and not try to compel other individuals to conform to a
single pattern of response.

"...stresses the essential nature of the cyclic process of actualization of
human potential, i.e. the emergence of the individual. This should lead to
a realization of THE FALLACY OF TOTALITARIANISM; at times we can all act
like despots, demanding that others react to any situation exactly as we
do."

Mars is with Zeta Reticuli at 26 Pisces.
------------------------

If we see this pattern as a basket, the only possible handle is the Moon's
North Node (the Dragon's Head), in Western astrology a point of ease in
expression and in Eastern astrology personal karma.

VIRGO 10 (NORTH NODE): IN HER BABY A MOTHER SEES HER DEEP LONGING FOR A SON
ANSWERED.

"KEYNOTE: The Spirit's answer to the vital needs of whatever became
individualized out of its infinite ocean of potentialities.

"All cycles of manifestation end in an essential duality of 'success' and
'failure,' as every release of new potentiality at the start of a new cycle
is inevitably polarized in two opposite directions, becoming sharply
differentiated at the mystical 'separation of the sheep and the goat.' But
out of duality a new unity eventually is produced: the child, the new God
of a new universe. Subconsciously or consciously, during pregnancy, the
mother dreams of the son-to-be and the imprint of the dream in time is
revealed in the boy's structural being. The true disciple must become the
Mother of the living God and should eventually fulfill the great need of
humanity and of all his people. MAN is constantly being renewed through
the great dreams and sacramental pregnancies of all disciples of the One
Master.

"...the power to bring one's dreams and ideals to a clear and sharp focus
of mental activity or imagination needs to be developed. It is the power
of creative visualization (KRIYASHAKTI) for which a significant word was
coined during World War II: IMAGINEERING - a combination of 'imagination'
and 'engineering.' Alas, the word was there, but our statesmen failed to
incarnate it in deeds."

The Dragon's Head is in exact conjunction with Zosma (delta Leonis) at 10
Virgo. This star is often found in the horoscopes of bisexual/homosexual
people.

Blessings on you in your imagineering!

Srini,

>Every one in my family enormously pressurising me to marry.
Anybody who have the Kundalini experience will know that
play, passion and any material achievements are nothing
compared to the Universal experience. Could any one
help me out with advice on how to find a like minded girl.>

I don't understand. If you have experienced the Universal energy of life
then why do you need advice? Trust your heart and soul. If it pleases
you to marry, then marry. If not, then don't do it.

Another piece of music for you which is positively celestial:
"Allegri Miserere" sung by the Talis Scholars.
Like being with the angels!

Enjoy

>NEW MOON SOLAR ECLIPSE CHART
>FOR PLANET EARTH

Ann, enjoyed your comments. I'd like to add a few more. If you want to
know how this will affect a country, cast the chart for the capital of that
country; i.e., for the U.S. use Washington DC, for the UK, London, etc.
(You can also use a transit chart for more information, and for influences
on individual charts.) Then remember the following:

*Mercury is particularly damaged this eclipse because it's in the sign of
it's FALL (something to apologize for) and DETRIMENT (greatly weakened & an
incapacity to act), and is plagued by other problems, like being combust
(its energy is burned up by the Sun, making it weak) and conjunct the South
Node. When you're looking at your chart, you'll know right away that the
houses ruled by Mercury (and they'll be different for different countries)
will also be damaged. These will be the houses with the signs Gemini &
Virgo on the cusp.

*Saturn is also damaged, although not as badly, and is in the sign of its
Fall. The houses Saturn rule (Aquarius & Capricorn) will be under duress, also.

*There is a major malefic aspect, a very close aspect, going on during this
eclipse, too. The eclipse is within two degrees of Jupiter, making Jupiter
less helpful; it's going to behave more like a malefic. The eclipse is
furthermore in almost an exact square to Pluto, known as the power-broker in
worldly affairs. So the houses containing these four "planets" (Sun & Moon
aren't technically planets, but the title will have to do for here) will
also be especially important.

For instance, in the U.S., that would be the 9th (foreign policy) and the
6th, which can be armies, national health policies, etc. Since the eclipse
is conjunct the 10th House (midheaven), there will be a little something
felt by the office of the presidency and the pres. himself, too.

These aspects will mean different things depending on where it's taking
place. A map showing where these planets are on the angles all over the
world is on my February almanac page, if anyone would like to check:

In general, those places under one of the lines depicting the Sun, Moon,
Jupiter & Pluto might be feeling things a bit more intensely than those out
in the clear. Example: an eclipse/Jupiter cuts a swath across the eastern
US, quite near Washington DC.

Happy exploring.

A book that you may want to look into is "The Secret Power of Music" by
David Tame. It's probably the closest related book to the subject at
hand I've seen. It has been a really long time since I read it but I
believe the general idea is related to various types of music and it's
effect on conciousness. It traces various forms of music in different
cultures.

Defintely worth looking at, although if you find Led Zepplin to get your
chakras beaming you maybe in for a surprise.

Peace
Stuart
