Dan, I have a degree in Computer Science, used it for about 5 years, had
a nervous breakdown and was drawn into the personal development seminar
business. This I promise, making a career in something which affects the
very core of your human spirit is profoundly more difficult and
challenging that working in engineering. However, it is vastly more
fulfilling.

K is NOT about earning a living. It is about living. Forget about earning
a living and begin to think about "what you want". Until you are crystal
clear on what you want to create, you will create a lot of what you do
not want (busyness that goes nowhere is an example). You may be
successful in different careers, but you will feel a hollowness inside.
This is what was meant by, "To thine own self be true."

You are working within the walls of a University with the basic premise
of that to get a job. Begin to think bigger. What do you want? This is
the basic, basic question from which everything else sprouts. Until you
know, forward progress to your own fulfillment is slow and frustrating.

Dan, (I am speaking now in my professional role as a professor:-)), I
would advise you to take several courses in psychology before you change
your major! If you are getting good grades and are successful in your
present field I would think twice before making the change. To do
research in psychology (or in any other field) you typically need a
Ph.D. That can take 5-8 years or more after you get your B.A. Twenty is
a good age to be. You have a ready made lab available to you, your own
mind. Be a researcher! Reflect, Practice and Realize.

Please disregard this message! This is just another in a long list
of
non factual e-mail virus scares. The actual virus is not the so
called "JOIN THE CREW" virus but the actual e-mail captioned below.

The sole purpose of these type of warning e-mails is to propagate
themselves. It is as if we don't have enough junk e-mail flying
     around.

Hasn't this scare died yet?

There is no way I've ever heard of for a virus to pull off
the stunts that are claimed for these. The only way a
virus can infect your computer via E-mail is through an
attachment (which you must deliberately run - it can't
do so on its own).

- Mike Stickles

P.S. - Has anybody actually SEEN an E-mail entitled
"JOIN THE CREW" or "PENPAL GREETINGS"?

Just a quick note. From someone who's tried them all: 'spirituality in the
world', and ashrams (several), and hermiting (on several mountaintops, in
vans and motorhomes of different degrees of aceticism :-).

A good environment does help. Sex is better in a clean bed than in a dirty
back seat. Music is better when no one is attacking your piano. Food is
better on a clean table in a nice restaruant than competing with pigs in a
trough. Etc etc.

And sharing with like-minded people helps a lot! Why else have lists like
this? Having them around in person is even better.

I'm not trying to invalidate the 'do it at teh water cooler' people. But
that's a very limited thing to do, and is NOT everyone's path. Trying to
carry a football down a field with people tackling you is NOT the only way
to exercise.

For people who really can't get away for a retreat -- the traditional thing
is to find/make a little oasis of peace/privacy/monastic atmosphere in ones
own home for concentrated meditation once or twice a day (20 minutes
morning and night often recommended, but even 5 is a big help). The easiest
way to do this is to get up before anyone else! 4 am is traditional. Then
go back to sleep after.

The 'place' can be just a special cloth spread out for the occasion with a
candle on it, etc. Or just in bed with the cover over ones head! Tho all
the traditional postures (lotus etc) help too.

Question Invalidation.... :-)

Valerie,

Wow, I loved your vivid and poetic story! The simple plenitude of your
experience came through beautifully. I landed in that close, quiet
place at the end of a day of intensity, breathing the sound of frosty
breath in the early twilight of impending winter.

Love. Jason.

(note: Bcc: John, Marlene, Lee, Art, Susan, this message is
to a Kundalini mailing list.)

I was in a meeting today and found myself really struggling
to stay awake, and the person next to me got interested
in the talk and perked up and was giving off some good
"wake up" energy.

I could have sucked up that energy and woken myself up, but
instead, I realized that I could tap into a (seemingly) limitless
energy source and that I could easily regenerate myself.

--However, I have been consciously or subconsciously been
avoiding tapping into the energy because if I am not careful,
I know that I could get into some serious trouble.

I realize that I must be capable of handling this energy to
some extent because at least two occasions I have encountered
people who have opened this channel of energy for me.

To explain this energy, I would say it has manifested as a
big ball (I believe solar plexus related), about 1 1/2 feet
above my head, and then travels down and through my body.

I guess I have internally decided to try to open this up
and keep it on to whatever extent I can. However, if anyone
has any advice/ words of warning on this, then I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
Toshi

Yes, Mary! In my case, setting the alarm one half hour early so there is
time to wake to the day SLOWLY and DELIBERATELY. At night, going to bed one
half hour earlier to REFLECT on the happenings of the day. This way one
never gets out of touch with oneself for too long a period.

Creating an OASIS in the home? You bet! i adore walking or sitting in
forests, hence i decorated my tiny living room according to its colours. My
bedroom is decorated in the colours of spring. My pets are my plants and my
knick-knack are the collected small rocks sitting on my windowsill.

Refusing to let the TV or Radio media pipe its messages into a home is
another trick, or, taping everything so one can bypass the debris which
comes with it.

Very little money is required to build oneself an OASIS. There is only ONE
requirement; KNOW THYSELF and if you like what you know, you build your
paradise from that angle.

The Peace and Bliss gleaned this way enables a person to spread it around to
others' on a daily basis which acts as the boomerang.

'nuff said,

LOVE and PEACE, Am
