I always take sudden, spiritual coldness to mean my energy has
been attracted to an outside source. During my first long experience I
had a vision of a badly burned woman in a hospital bed and was asked to
heal. I agreed and suddenly grew cold and had to wrap myself in a
blanket. Energy can also be given without permission to whatever our
unconscious is sympathetic to. For some reason, you had enough
unconscious emotion centered around worried parents looking for their
child to give energy to these spirits.

Fear is your ego's way of trying to preserve itself.

> Had anyone else ever felt what I just experienced? Can someone please

I've experienced intense experiences that I wished would stop, but
not any that I knew involved human spirits. If you are in a similar
experience, remember that it is your involvement that gives the experience
reality. Take a second to take a breath and relax. Watch yourself
growing indifferent. Don't let fear, pain, pleasure, anger, or any other
feeling distract you from your determination to become indifferent. In
becoming indifferent to the experience, its intensity will fade, and you
can turn your attention elsewhere.
Once, during a time I felt I could not grow indifferent, I managed
to "deal" with the experience to get the source to change places. (I
was caught up in someone's mind pattern, and managed to get myself
transfered to another person's mind pattern just by wanting to.)
Another technique in experience ending would be to focus on the
space above your head and look for energy streams. If you find any, watch
them slowly fade, as they are likely to be linked to your communication.
A final technique would be to look inside your brain and look for
locations that feel like pressure. Focus on these points and slowly
release them. I think the pressure is related to the "tuning" of your
thoughts. By removing the pressure, you increase your "bandwidth." You
may notice that you start receiving more information, except that some
information will be unrelated to the current fearful experience. Don't
let this distract you. Keep removing the pressure in your brain until
your "bandwidth" is so broad that the experience looses integrity. It's
kinda like solving the hole in the dam problem by tearing the whole thing
down and realizing that it's all just warm, harmless water.
I hope something works. Good luck.

I found ashram/monastery life to be quite wonderful, the few chances I had
to try it. Very worthwhile. Felt like a seal that found the water for the
first time. No more flopping around on sharp rocks.

By all means sample it! Sample many different ones, they're all different,
more different than anyone can imagine from knowing just one or two.

Of course in yoga ashrams you don't have to make any big vow or long
committment etc. They are used to people going in and out, practicing as a
strict monk for a few days or weeks or however long possible, and then
going out to fulfill householder duties (raise a family etc). And there's
no problem with being the right sect/religion. They don't mind if you visit
different ones as circumstances permit. All yoga is one....

>From your letter it sounds like a small place might be better. More
flexible. Not a lot of regimentation etc. There are lots and lots of med
centers where likeminded yoga people share a house and support each other's
process.

As for mostly chakras etc and not so much deities. Swetambala Jainism fits
that. Was my favorite place in many ways. The ashram I knew closed. I think
there is one semi-ashram starting in Orange County.

Baba Hari DAs' place south of San Francisco fits too. Their summer month
intensive "Teachers TRaining Course" is rather good. No deities at all,
lots of techniques. About $1000 total. But it's not exactly a monastery
environment. It's a big retreat center that rents space to lots of other
groups for their retreats.

What area are you in?

The HHH/Yogi Bhajan/Sikh group have some nice small ashrams. Think they are
focussed on exercises to emulate K, rather than supporting spontaneous K.

I guess you know Gurumai/Siddha Yoga? Not as K as it used to be, very
focussed on Gurumai. Her brother Nityananda has a small group and an ashram
in Penn, I think. Supposedly keeping more of Mukatananda's tradition.

Swami Rama had a big place in Penn, died recently. Probably pretty no
nonsense. Himalyan Publishing Co, they do a lot of good books and have very
descriptive literature. I haven't been there.

I'll try to think of some more. Anyway, it was the most wonderufl
experience of my life, well, most of the several different ashrams were.
Totally not in Kansas.... :-)

Namaste,
Mary

I know what you mean. When awakening the dragon, you may at some
time experience a state of mind so radically different from your norm that
you are having too much fun to go back or are too caught up in the
intensity of the experience to return to normal. If you are ever in such
a state and are concerned about your mental health, focus on "the way you
used to be", and awareness of self will return to normal. Remember, your
mind will obey your Will. You are not at its mercy.
Also, awakening kundalini in public while in a fully conscious
state could be distressing. I'd suggest experiencing the dragon in
private first until you get used to the intensity and have some idea what
kind of experiences are likely.
I'd suggest you focus on "just watching" your experiences when
first dealing with kundalini. Don't try to control things you're not used
to controlling.
I've found it to be useful to occasionally try to get my logical
mind to "catch up" with my intuition by trying to understand my kundalini
experiences in as many lights as possible. I usually start with the
assumption that "it was just my imagination", and then I gather facts in
the ways I'm used to with an unbiased attitude. Then I compare "my
imagination" with the "reality."
 Good luck!

It is likely that you will experience similar things. Your
experiences will probably be mostly vision oriented and you will also
probably experience time transcendance. Perception of energy will
probably always be part of your experiences.
Consider the first experience a preview of coming attractions.
Later experiences may be more focused and more directed.

As long as you keep out the dust bunnies, you will likely have
more experiences.

PRAYER OF COSMIC WONDER

Last night hereabouts a miracle occurred
The clouds to the west parted and there appeared
A mystical orb
With light unlike another celestial ray
Since Moses in the bullrushes, forsaking light of day
Beheld the night skies of Earth
And ancient history echoed.

And now, as if to hold me spellbound,
A mighty wind did blow
Parting clouds above my head
Revealing a BIG DIPPER, hanging low,
With large pregnant stars...giving birth
To cosmic energies
Once hidden.

O spectacles sublime,
O night beings,
You remind me of the infinitesimal magnitude
Of the Universal Order
And the paltry insignificance of sucklings on
One tiny planet
So blessed!

Such celestial gems are but grains of sand
Within an hourglass
Within a parallel reality of Mighty Giants,
Within 'The Milky Way'
Are but part of some atomic structure
Of another entity,
Unseen.

Benevolent Presence of Cosmic Order
In this magnaminously gargantuan system
Of stars,
And correlating planets,
And comets,
Within all the reasons and seasons,
Without my small heartbeat

Have mercy on the souls of the innocent, the virtuous
Remind us how humble are our sweet life's breathings
And how royal simultaneously
For in the immeasurably immense
Scheme of our existence
Of which we each remain blissfully unaware
Ours is the cosmic spark called Love.

Hi Kees,
One place to look might be in the directory of International
Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association (IKYTA).

http://www.yogibhajan.com/ikyta.html

There is one listed in the Netherlands from 1996.
Perhaps you can contact this organization to find the names
of others.

Hope this helps,

Subject: Illusion what illusion?
Message-ID: <01BCEFD3.21120BE0ATnospampppclient8.canberra.edu.au>

folks,

the Mdme S & myself entered into some little discrepancy re Oneness and concurrency of physical reality. Interestingly, I seem to recall that the particular thread started off with the notion of the world being an 'illusion' or symptoms to that effect were uttered in the posts. And now we have the odd situation of 'physical reality' being able to be a concurrency of a type. Very peculiar seems to me this apparition cum contradiction of 'illusion' and recognition of concurrency of 'ph reality' when latter supposedly an illusion. Hence reality check. Or was it a mere plucking of various ideas from the ether with no gelling of the mixture into a coherent wholeness. Accordingly, below comes challenge to said position on viability of illusionist thought.

thank you for your attention.

I just don't go along with the illusion stuff. You can't just say something is an illusion. That's just a statement the premise for which is not explained.

Nothing comes out of nothing. Something comes out of something. Something cannot come out of nothing. The existence of your microcosmic self cannot be denied altogether. No matter how much we deny the existence of the world we cannot make it non-existent.

I have to opt for the notion that the world is a relative truth and so your physical body which exists in this relative world is also a relative truth. For you existence in the this relative world, you need food, clothing, shelter, education, medical treatment and other amenities of life. This makes much more sense because it accepts relativity and it accepts that it doesn't last and it does not deny that you exist as much as I do as a sheer practically necessity of the continuance of life.

The funny thing is this that those exponents of philosophy who have declared that this world is mere illusion or Ma'ya' have constructed various temples and monasteries. If the world is nothing but Ma'ya' then where is the necessity of all these temples and monasteries?

There are clear contradictions between the preaching and the practice.

The illusion school of thought is also mysteriously silent about the origin of the unit consciousness of each of us. Ramprasad, a famous mystic poet of Bengal, has given an answer to this question:

"You will be the same in the end as your were in the beginning. Just as a water bubble arises from water and the next moment dissolves back into the water, similarly, the unit consciousness comes out of Supreme Consciousness and ultimately returns to Supreme Consciousness. That is, the water bubble rises out of the water and finally merges into the water. Similarly, the unit consciousness springs from Supreme Consciousness and finally merge back into Supreme Consciousness".

Interestingly enough, although the propounders of the illusion school of thought do not mention where the unit consciousness comes from, they tell us that they merge into Supreme Consciousness. Why do they avoid the question where do the unit consciousness come from?

One more thing is that the unit consciousness, though apparently a small entity, is part of the Infinite and as such has in it an element of infinity. Therefore, all expressions, all movements of the the human experience or the experience of any unit consciousness are not strictly limited to their physical existence. Just as one can trace infinity into the microscopic smallest particle, eg fractal theory cleary demonstrates that one can forever go into a fractal pattern into smaller and smaller depth and never reach its end, similarly one can envisage an expansive Infinity. At the end of he day the nucleus is the same. That is, the nucleus of any unit consciousness is also the same as the Infinite Consciousness.

It is incorrect to say that all these expressions of creation have come out of nothing. Something cannot come out of nothing, and nothing cannot come out of something. Something which exists will continue to exist though undergoing metamorphosis. Similarly nothing that does not really exist can never have an expression.

Everyone feels that they are carrying some warmth of life, some life-force. Everyone feels they have a mind, with so many feelings and sentiments, hopes and aspirations, pains and pleasures and of course so many susceptibilities and sensibilities. If someone denies this, what would be their condition? All these things are not burdens, but the bliss of joyful living. We voluntarily carry these burdens/hopes because they give joy. It is no illusion. It is a major question and it is left unanswered in the illusion school of thought (ie Dvaeta'dvaetava'da school of thought).

The value of humanity goes unrecognized in this illusion school of philosophy.

Accept this world as a relative truth and strives to cope with its problems. Anyway, this world cannot be dismissed as unreal because it provides your vitality required by way of such things as food, drink and air to attain the Absolute :))

Sometimes we find a moment.

In a storm of rage I found myself.
And became like the quiet sea.
Teardrops formed crystals to last a lifetime.
In each tear was my life.
Full of joy. Laughing and crying.
Holding onto everything, for it was a part of me.
Now everything exists in tears,
Afraid to be alone, I let it go.
Only to find I am one with all.
And that love has not dissolved,
But blossomed everywhere.
My heart has opened and lives in eternity.

Blessings to all!

I would like to acknowledge my gratitude to Frans, Freda and Ori (in
alphabetical order) for putting my paper on Kundalini and Tantra Yoga on
their websites.I think Frans has put it on the Kundalini Mailing list.
It covers the following topics: The time frame for awakening the
Kundalini, Kundalini awakening, spirituality, and Samadhi, Meditations
on specific Chakras, the role of advanced pranayama, and the practice of
Kundalini Yoga in the context of love and sensuality for couples.

It was written some years ago for advanced students of yoga and
meditation and their spiritual teachers or advanced students who wish to
play the role of spiritual teachers. It contains important cautions as
well and may make useful reading. What I write is based on my personal
experience. As always, unless I have seen it in my mental vision or
experienced it, I do not discuss it.

Subject: Re: Illusion what illusion?

I just read your post...and felt a need to reply......
I have for the past 13 years been having the experience of this world not
seeming real....it seems like a dream....kinda flat and surreal..everything
including myself feels this way.....I guess its all a part of this
spontaneous Kundalini thing I started to have....I have been told....that I
am seeing things more correctly now.....and have been told that the world is
in fact not real...it is a dream or an illusion.....Now ...i have a hard time
grasping this mentally....but the more I really sit with it....somehow....it
feels....like it could be true.....
Now the whole thing of nothingness enters in too.......I often feel this
empty nothingness...a vastness......along with the surreal feeling....and it
is constant....now I know it makes no sense mentally...or with the
mind....that if the world isn't real...then what is all this stuff...and
where did it come from.....and how could it be nothing??? Yep....the mind
just doesn't get it.....but on some level.....i am feeling at times this is
true.....and i think as time goes on.....things will reveal...the
truth.......
It is not suprising that to most people "the world is an illusion" makes no
sense.....and seems absolutly unthinkable......but....I think....that little
by little....people will see....not with their minds.....but in some other
way....that this is an illusion.......it will be revealed
somehow....to..us....to me and u....sometime...when...we are..ready....or
something like that.....
Hum.....just some thoughts ..based on some of what i experience...its just

Hi Helen,

I sympathise with your difficulties with EMF sensitivity. I know being
around a lot of metal can worsen symptoms. Do you sleep in a metal bed
or have other metal furniture at home or work? A mattress with metal
coils can increase sensitivity. You may need to purchase a cotton or
kapok mattress. Are there metal framed windows around you or metal in
the building frame? These things will all contribute.

Also you might find it beneficial to purchase a magnetometer (to read
the level of magnetism in an EMF field or better still a tri-field meter
which will measure electric, magnetic, radio and microwaves. The
benefits of this will be in alerting you to fields that will affect you
and help you avoid them where possible.

There are devices on the market which will protect you from EMF's that
are disruptive to you. These devices electrically re-synthesise to a
7.83 Hz field. The Teslar watch is one. I have worn one of these
for years. Other devices will protect a house down to ones that you can
carry that have a range about 4m square.

Altered States is a company in New Zealand that sells these, see

I work with both environmental illness and spiritual growth clients.
It is my belief that environmental illness is often a precursor to
spiritual growth. As a western society we have moved a long way away
from personal integration with our environment. Environmental illness
thrusts us back into awareness of how we are interacting and our
relationship with the air we breathe, the food we eat, the ground we
walk on etc. I believe Mother Nature is forcing us to again look to
her and observe what we are doing to our planet.

Environmental illness can and does stimulate us to take another look at
the technology we have implemented and the ways it degrades Earth and
those on Earth.

Your own case of EMF sensitivity is surely posing questions about the
huge electrical environment you live in and what it is actually doing to
your body.

My own spiritual growth was prodded by environmental illness. I have
been drawn to reassess my relationship with myself and my interaction
with our planet, God, the Universe etc as a whole united essence.
Nothing I do is in isolation. Everything I do effects all others.

I don't believe we can explore our own spirituality without
understanding that Earth is us and we are Earth. The physical
connection extends to the spiritual. Environmental illness is on the
increase and I believe it will continue to rise until we seriously,
individually, take responsibility for what we are daily doing to our
planet.

Regards, sue
