Dear Tom:

Sorry, I was quoting Terry and forgot to remove his name at the bottom of the letter. Actually, I'm David or the Ox.

Tom here: <Both K and T Yoga place emphasis on transferring energy through the spine, and through various gates or chakras along it. But they diverge on other details. The question one could ask is are they complementary, or are they mutually exclusive systems. My attitude is that these disciplines owe a lot to their cultural and religious contexts in terms of the ways they systematize the states of achievement. I think that what we have is contrasting systems of esoteric physiology. Both built their systems on deep introspection on parts of the body, combined with visualization and breathing practices. Whether what they espouse is an absolute fact or an interpretation is another matter. >

The Ox:
My thoughts concurr with the description you have given of the differences between kundalini and taoist yoga. Energy is a living thing with a will, and these different cultures have developed their own unique inner culture. The differences are quite strong I think, although I'm only recently beginning to examine the Hindu traditions. I don't see a correlation between the tan t'ien and the chakras, but I could maybe accept a relationship. But I mentioned this briefly in another recent letter. However, I think it would be interesting to share ideas to understand more deeply these differences. You asked if these systems are "complementary, or are they mutually exclusive" and I feel both, but right yet I don't want to try and put it into words. Maybe this is heretical but if we are remembering our 'Self' maybe the energies around us (from astral to matter) are on a similar path unique to their culture.

One idea I have been working recently is the notion that tan t'ien is like an egg. I see two possibilities, 1) there are three tan t'iens in the belly, heart and brow, or 2) there is one tan t'ien percieved and interpreted differently by different spaces of being. Within the egg there are two energies, yin and yang, kundalini and holy spirit, dynamic and static, etc. They turn in balance or other otherwise the shell looses integration and the contents spill, filling the body with the rush of these energies. To me this would account for so many (I wonder if not all (the egoist, Steer part of me)) of the symptoms related to kundalini. To me the attributes of each tan t'ien are aspects of the divine: power in the belly, love in the heart, and wisdom in the brow. On the other hand peace is the attribute I associate with the base chakra (I might be way off on that). Anyway, I'll explain what has happened to me when the belly tan t'ien has spilled, and then I'll speculate on what I think happens on when the other two spill. In my practise right now I have to watch the tan t'ien in the belly. When I'm holding a difficult posture and I'm on that fine line between breaking and maintaining, one of two things happen, 1) focusing on the light turning, and separating from the process, finding the balance between being firm with concentration and sublimely relaxed---breathing deeply and letting the breath do the maintenance, I'm able to hold or, 2) loosing concentration, heat spills throughout the entire body, causing me to gasp for air. Added to this there seem to be two breaths at work here, an external drawing of air into the lungs and an internal blowing into the tan t'ien.

So first my speculation of what happens when kundalini manifests in the heart, and secondly in the brow.
a: When the heart spills I would imagine there would be a surge of rage, hatreds, confusion, anger, bitterness, etc. I imagine there would be a fracturing of the Self from the divine, an isolation from unity. When it is integrated, love as an aspect of the divine is manifest, embracing all back into Oneness without fracturing its unique dimension of perception and being.
b: When the brow spills I would imagine there would be dizzyness, that feeling you get when you loose your bearings, you're drawing a blank and you can't keep up with what is going on around you. The effect I would imagine is not quite stupidity as that is a measure of intelligence, but rather ignorance of the divine. When it is integrated, wisdom would be manifest. I think this may become, with balance between all aspects of tan t'ien, akin to Oneness, or true perception.

Of course these things speak of the process of awakening and not the fulfillment of it. But I also doubt completion. As I watch the breath I notice that there is a turning, circulating. One time I experienced a moment that was eternal. This seems strange I know, but there was an instant when the entire universe didn't exist except as this expansion and contraction, flowing through, to and from a center. There was no completion, only in that flow eternity. That center I later placed a few inches above (lying horizontally) the belly tan t'ien. It has been more than two years since that experience and I am still trying to learn how to realize it fully.

I guess I did want to try and put my idea into words. Ooops.

Back to your question of whether these systems are complementary or mutually exclusive, I think as a foreigner in Korea there is no way of adopting their system in their way. Westerners are learning much from the east at this time. That is as it should be, and vice versa. But, we learn and create our way, our own inner culture. While paying respect to theirs. There is an aboriginal saying (I believe I heard it from the Cree in Western Canada), "take what you need, and give what you can." That's it. That's it exactly. Right now in the west we are like babes creating our place, our line in the aftermath of spiritual death. We take what the universe provides us in the way of instruction from other cultures, but in the long run, we have to take responsibility for it as our own. So, I feel each system is both complimentary AND mutually exclusive.

To cite Mystress, 'here's a left turn':
As I watch myself throughout the day, I notice that during and after meditation, many experiences I am unable to remember later. Much like they happened in a dream. I seem to travel up and down through this spectrum of energies throughout the day. Well right now I am very deeply rooted in the realm of matter, and trying to recall, draw down and make sense of what I've glimpsed at other times and spaces. This by way of a disclaimer.

Peace and love,
The Ox.

PS. I'll get the book about Gurdjieff. Thanks.

I meant to continue in previous post........

I read a paragraph here a day or so ago which brought a basic thought to my
mind.

Mr. J. Miller wrote " .....The " just enjoy the high " can best be
explained as TOO LITTLE SLEEP on my part.........".
We have all said that.

Which mind speaks when we have Too Little Sleep ?
How many minds are there ?
Are they all verbal ?

----
An excerpt from Nelson Mandela´s 1994 Inaugural Speech

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our Light, not our Darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are you NOT to be?

You are a child of God. Your playing small
does not serve the World.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people
won´t feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.

It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.

And as we let our own Light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

Everyone has some kundalini flow who is creative and focused, this is
that energy manifesting. I have obviously brought up some points that
are uncomfortable for some folks which is not my intention. I have
shared from my experience, it need not be accepted however. I am happy
with the sharing... it one way or the other.

Hello List Members:
To save the time of the readers:

Short form is:
1) Please edit posts being replied to
2) Please reply to posters privately with remarks or questions
not suited for 300+ readers, especially those of a sentence or 2.
3) Please change subject line when subject changes or when replying
to a post without a subject line.
_______
Longer, narrative form:
1) I want to 2nd the request by the Lyst Mystress to remind
everyone to edit posts you are replying to.

This list has grown and in order to continue to be a viable
avenue of support and information, we each need to do our
part to save the time of the readers.

When each one of the 300+ members of this group has to
take time to scroll through quoted material, that adds up
to a lot of time and frustration which could be redirected
 toward more fruitful activities.

2) Likewise... please respond to posters privately if your remarks
(especially those of a sentence or 2) would not serve to enhance
     the understanding of 300+ people.

3) Please change the subject line if the topic changes and/or if you
reply to a post without a subject line. This greatly enhances
being able to follow a thread... as well as knowing when to delete
topics one has no interest in.

As new members subscribe and the volume of this list increases and
becomes an increasing avenue of support for people around the world,
we each need to do our part at following simple list "netiquette"
to keep it manageable, and friendly too.

Kundalini-l is a gateway, and as such we each need to pitch in
to make it as user-friendly as possible.

Thank-you for your assistance.

In service to the process of awakening,
ori^

I would love for everyone to think that I am nice, evolved, wise, etc etc. The style of
myposts certainly proves that. And this nice, evolved, wise response is just as
superficial.
So?

> Real?
> No. We have to be honest with each other - that is real kindness, we have to point out

Yes. Well, sometimes. Sometimes nice, evolved, wise words are real and honest. I
amcertainly a fool to think so. So?

The alternative is to show what a real and honest *bastard* I can be. Instead of sugar
coating the words, I can sharpen them into stakes and pound them into hearts. Those to whom

my words are directed will surely benefit from my realness and honesty.

This forum perhaps has an aversion to such dark expression. It is not SC (Spiritually
Correct) to honor and acknowledge its validity. The bright flashing lights, heat and
tingling sensations are too distracting to appreciate such depth of experience. My sarcasm
is hateful and surely drops me down 2 or 3 rungs on the evolutionary ladder.

Thank you, but I am a fool just like you. Don't be so dazzled. I will still be a fool in
30 years when I have cracked the secret of consciousness and become lord and master of the
universe.

with Love,
Zympht.

PS. Your dazzle is brilliant. :))

Love and Light to all

Tonight is the 7th night

The wind in the trees speaks volumes
The voice of the One comes forth strongly
IT is now the time of thinking
Time for inscribing the book of life and the book of the dead
The year ahead will be traumatic.....

Friends to what is termed "Mother Earth" must come forth and heal the
rifts
Those who know "Father Time" are clear in the anger which spews forth
Too many ignore the Light.....too many.....bring them closer.....show
them the good.....show them the right path.....

The wrong path stems from before old egypt.....the wrong path was
bragged about in the names of the store houses of egypt.....Pithom and
Ramses......something has been lost in translation and similarities of
languages over the eons.......Pi (pronounced Pee) tom (pronounced as in
the last syllable of bottom) means in Hebrew.....SUDDENLY (there is no
"th" combination in Arabic or Hebrew.....this is again an english
translation)
breaking Ramses into syllables.....RA in Hebrew means Bad or
EVIL.....the s ending in english is an indication of a plural ending;
change the ending to eem (plural ending in Hebrew) Ramseem
if it is not pluralistic then it is a pronounciation difference...eg.
MOSES in Hebrew is pronounced MO SHE (as in the first syllable of
shetland)
and if we pronounce mseem as ma seem then we have the word maseem for
DEEDS......now during the time of the Hebrew slavery in egypt we have
two storehouses built whose combined names mean "suddenly evil deeds"
makes you think that the there was an attempt at a warning.....Beware
the evil deeds!!!!! or in the singular, Beware the evil deed!!!!!!

I turn to the Chakras and find of them much truth.....but to seek them
out and understand them and benefit from them, the physical must first
learn to be at peace with itself.....inner turmoil is
counterproductive.....my physical knew much turmoil as have many of
you.....discarding black bits and entering the light is a difficult
process.....exhausting process to undergo for the newly
enlightened.....very worthwhile pursuing.....ask my physical....it
experienced headaches.....after the headaches went (blocked 'K' energy
for 14 years then reawakened.....but that is a story for another time)

the Chakras, Chi, Ain Soph OR.....related and yet different.....

Chi triggers memories in my physical of violent training and violence in
general.....for chi is associated with Martial Arts for my physical.....

Ain Soph Or is associated with Zohar and Kabbalah.....Zohar is the
fundamental study prior to Kabbalah.....

the Chakras.....this list discuss them frequently......and so the
centres are known to you.....

Armageddon.....also called megiddo.....i have seen it before.....and i
may see it again.....the book of the dead shall be inscribed as will the
book of life with whom shall live and whom shall die and when and
how.....other things are inscribed, as well, in the book of
life.....your physical's deeds and experiences are known to the
One.....Armageddon.....Will you prevent it.....use your energies
NOW.....The corners of the world need positive forces at
work.....positive energy.....there is a new Negative power coming to be
heard and seen.....it is usurping the Negative Energy put
forth.....Counter it with your Positive Energy.....the Negative comes
from the well of darkness.....

The Offworlders have been here before.....look unto the mountains and
you will see your friends.....Eziekel saw the wheel a turning way in the
middle of the sky.....there are other instances.....you have
heard.....you call them by various titles, greys are but a single title
for offworlders

The realms collide.....there is a hole opening between the etheral and
non-etheral.....the light and the dark will merge for a time.....then
find their respective places.....

zarcon was,is and will be the messenger forewarning the darker
side.....it is necessary to know of what may be, so that the physicals
may change the paths and alter the time to-come.....for the time to-come
is not set until it is now
In the physical realm, there are those that use the term "prophet of
doom" to refer to the being that tells that which the physicals do not
want to hear.....Yet hear you must.....for not all the paths are paths
of pleasantness.....ignoring those paths does not mean they are not
there.....recognize them and deal with them in an appropriate
manner.....zarcon is the voice that makes the physicals look at what the
physicals do not want to see.....a difficult task to be sure.....but it
too must be done.....This list has a function to help the physical realm
achieve the light.....it's function is noble and good.....Mangal to
all.....Indra, Lobster, Gloria, Bob, Linda, Angelique and all those not
named.....Namaste Ashtu

zarcon does many things, knows many things.....zarcon fulfills the
current task and then the task shall change again.....for when a
knowledge is shared it no longer becomes a task.....then a new task is
undertaken.....

Free Will allows you to heed my words or ignore them.....CHOOSE.....i
comment not upon your choice.....it is your path you choose.....
My advise.....Choose well

zarcon
i am of the ages

A little rhyme for you:

  All these signposts
  they do obscure by view
I burn them to the ground
  allowing me to see
  the pure majesty
  of God's love for me.

But then perhaps the obstacle to understanding our sprituality is logic
itself. Why can't we just be accepting, after all you keep saying that we
can't understand what can't be understood, so how does logic actually help.

But is that not the job of the Jester, to be the fool.

Yet, sometimes is it not the fool who is the most wise. :-)
