When I get intense energy coming out of my hands, I also work with my
plants. They love it. Whenever Kundalini is going through my body, I
ground myself by giving some of the plants some energy, then I play in
the dirt a little. I feel better and they feel better too. I know for
myself that when I feel the energy in my crown chakra meditation is not
the best thing. I need to get grounded. Meditation makes me more
flighty.

Try giving your plants some of the energy. It is like letting water flow
out of your hands and finger tips. Watch the light as it streams out
too. It is neat. I haven't worked myself on humans because sometimes
the energy feels so intense and I don't want to bombard someone with it.
I have a brother who cannot even come close to me at these times because
he gets too tingly and doesn't know what to do. I go to my plants
because they ask me too. (I love to talk to my plants.) Well, good
luck. Listen to your own inner guidance too. You might get some great
suggestions. Love and Light, Colleen sumacATnospamwin.bright.net

I just really have to disagree with this. I've heard this from others, but
the truth of the matter is, if you're doing Reiki correctly, this should not
happen under any circumstances. I think it mostly happens when people try
to use too much will, trying to direct what really does best when allowed to
flow undirected. Reiki flows almost automatically once you've begun the
treatment, going where it's needed and in the right amount. If you're
pushing it with your will, when you let up, guess what might happen? It's
never happened to me, at least so far (and I'm an empath, perhaps logically
more susceptible than some). Nor do you take on someone's karma, another
story that seems to circulate from time to time--if you do the Reiki
properly. Reiki is actually self-grounding, but if grounding makes you feel
more "secure," then certainly no harm done.

There are more and more people teaching Reiki and healing with Reiki who ask
for no payment. There is a listing of a few of these on a fairly new web page:

http://members.aol.com/Reikifree/index.html

There's also lots of info on Reiki and other healing methods there.

Hi. I wanted to second Cameron's praise for the technique Aaron suggested -

I've tried this and it _is_ really cool. Thx for posting the idea. When I do it I
get the feeling of not being in a human world of thought conditioning, behavior,
cultural norms etc. It's like being in a soft undefined world where those sounds
are _beings_ rumbling or chiping by, going along their merry way... Again very
cool & thx.

Isn't Maya the latin-american word describing that our perception of the
world is merely an illusion? What is the difference between western and
oriental hypnotism and is it yoga related in any way?

Claudia,

I'd really like to know how you contact them, and do they assist you in
healing only? Can you comunicate with them and what practices are described
in the book you recommend?

A friend of mine stumbled over some weird layers of "reality" during
meditation and entered a room with *people* from the universal white
brotherhood. He says that they told him that all lightworkers are spiritual
members of the universal brotherhood. The same happened to me during an
improvised past life session; I went into a hall and there were lots of
people dresed in white. My memory of what happened is a bit blurred, but
they sort of initiated me, or gave me energy of some kind. I asked how I
could help and they said that I would know when the time was ready. In my
opinion it was probably my subconsciousness showing me what I wanted to see,
but nevertheless it sharpened my curiosity for the Universal White Brotherhood.

Another thing; Today I found out that there is a lecture on the matter of
the Universal White brotherhood in my hometown.

The organisation concerning Mikhael Omram Aivanhovs teachings, which is by
the way not a sect, calls themselves the Universal white brotherhood. Anyone
familiar with his teachings? I fully recommend his works and especially "The
Power of Tought" and "The Yoga of Nutrition".

My guess is that my description missed the mark - I didn't mean to
imply that I was speaking of the color 'after' the sun sets; rather the
color that plants take on just as the sun sits on the horizon just
prior to sunset and shortly after sunrise.

No, I don't think so - more of a warm, glowing, golden, orangy cast
to the plants themselves.

Again, I don't think so, the color I describe is that produced by
the long rays of the sun usually coming from behind me and illuminating
the plants/grass in front of me. I had assumed that this was the case
in the book also.
I just picked the word 'blue' to represent a common answer to the
'favorite color' question to contrast with the intangible color of
which I was speaking.

This is my first major awakaning of my unconcious self. I hope that all
you fascinating people can give me insight into what this expirience is
about.

Last night, while i was meditating, i had a rather interesting
expirience. I was meditating using a Zen-like type of meditation. I was
pondering over some basic questions. (I have only been using meditation
for about a month now, and i have never tried this style before). At
first, a didn't notice anything, no feelings, thoughts or images. I
asked myself "What is love?"
(I asked this because i am nearly a completely emotionless person, and i
wished to nkow what it was) After a few minutes of meditating over this
question, i started to see colors. It started as a few red and yellow
splotches, but then grew into a slow-spinning vortex of brilliant reds,
oranges, yellows, and purples. I also started to feel love. Not just the
feeling of receiving love, but the feeling of giving it as well. This
lasted for what seemed to be half an hour (i found out later that it was
about five minutes). After this experience, i decided to try the
question "What is hate?" It started out as it had with love, same
colors, feelings, etc... suddenly, a small black bubble formed on the
vortex. it expandid, and blocked out the vortex. it poped, and i saw
that it had disrupted the vortex. i started to remember all the bad
things people had done to me throughout my life. Then another bubble
appeared, expanded and poped. the emotions increased in intensity. I
stopped there to prevent anymore hate from filling me (i had nearly
broken some of the things around me). I tried one last question after
this, being careful so as to not repeat the effects of the "What is
Hate?". i asked what is the meaning of life. All i saw was a black
abyss, and had fealings of "What is this about?" etc... this is the end
of the experience.

Yours truly,
Chris

If only I would have had this K-list to bombard me with questions and answers
to my statements, and calling me on my stuff when I was blissed out and
thought I, too, was one of the few enlightened..... it would have saved me
from doing and saying a lot of *ridiculous* things to friends & family, some
things I still occassionally squirm to & have to deal with and let go.

It would have brought me down sooner most likely, but eventually, if I wasn't
prepared to stay, I would have came down anyway. I believe I would rather
go through it with you K-listers, who tell it like it is & who understands,
than those who haven't went through it and just think you are nuts.

List members,
I want to thank you for all the suggestions regarding this energy I have in my
hands. I mean most of my life I have been so frustrated. I feel so incompetent
sometimes because I can't get something to work when I know I am doing it
right. I sit down and try to do something. I touch something and it stops
working, or flips out. Today at work I wanted to make copies. Every time I
tried the copy machine did weird things and then stopped working, then someone
else came in and had no problem. I look for something I just had and it
disappears from where I sat it down. Then five minutes later it's back exactly
where I left and exactly where I just looked for it ! This is driving me
crazy. I practice, meditation, visualization, cleansing etc.. Grounding
maybe? Anyway I really appreciate the suggestions from everyone who answered
my request for help.
And Tyrone, I will read those books you suggested.
Thanks everyone!

I just wanted to thank those of you who responded to my question about
Kriya Yoga and the SRF/Ananda organizations. You gave me some good info to
meditate over :) and I was pleasantly surprised to find the responses
overall favorable.

Since I live in Mountain View (and have found that others here on the list
are nearby) I will be paying Ananda a visit. A dear friend of mine lives
next to the SRF in Hollywood, so I will be talking to her as well.

Haa haa!!!

Krazy K!

I have had *weird* things happen with electronic devices when my energy is
erratic, most notably with answering machines!! Usually they don't quite
work, or I get straaannge messages (there was one time I pretty much
thought I was getting a message from "the dead" -- now I'm not so sure...)

I also have absolutely sworn something "disappeared" only to reappear in
other locations. Especially items of personal nature that I'm kind of
attached to, like watches, etc. BUT, there is a danger for me in even
entertaining this notion, because then I become convinced it's happening
when I *really* just been incredibly absent-minded and out of my body. When
I am back to "normal" these things don't happen... Now if I ever go through
a K storm again, I will use common sense FIRST and FOREMOST.

Yes, ground, ground, Ground!!!! I plan to dig my heels into our newly
planted lawn in our backyard if (should I say when?) K strikes again.

Love & Light,

I have heard one teacher (Tenshin Reb Anderson) say that
the wonderful thing about enlightenment is that it is not
a 'personal' experience. _Everyone_ participates somehow in _anyone's_
authentic enlightenment experience. It is transpersonal. This
is the beauty and value of it, no?

Didn't the Buddha exclaim on his enlightenment, something like,
'how wonderful, everyone and everything is enlightened too!'

I remember seeing this for a day or so, once upon a time, how
all people were really 'shiny happy people' underneath their masks.

> > The next person who says they're enlightened gets it from the great
> > buddha in the sky - OK ?

I pray thee, O Great Buddhas, hit me with your holy spirit so
that I too may exclaim with you:
"How Wonderful! Everyone and Everything is Enlightened Too!"

Cheers,
Peter

So, on a whim, without meditation or deliberation,
asked the web I Ching a frivolous question:
"Is Dan G. really enlightened?", usually the I Ching gives a
frivolous answer to a frivolous question like this,
but in this case methinks there be a grain of wisdom:

Primary Hexagram

48. The Well
There is a divine, eternal life source that anyone can draw on. One
should draw as deeply as possible from this spiritual well, rather
than engage in shallow and short-sighted projects. Organizations should
be planned around the deep needs of their members. The
members will then be inspired and cooperative. Individuals should work
on bringing forth their own divine nature.

Changing Lines

Line 2: You have many good qualities and talents, but this is not the
time to be recognized or promoted.

Line 3: You have talents that unfortunately are not being used. If a
superior knew about them, you would be called upon to use
them and many would benefit from your abilities.

Line 5: Maintain your strength and integrity and help others. Eventually
you will be respected and rewarded.

Secondary Hexagram

2. Supportive Earth
Receptive people are like the earth in its greatness and expansive
virtues. They yield to the natural influences around them.
Devotion, kindness, tolerance and brightness are qualities of the
receptive. Be accepting, pure in character and at the service of
the greater good and you will be blessed with good fortune.

I love it!

By the way, here is an amusing story concerning my own synchronistic
introduction to the I Ching: I had a small paperback volume of
Blofeld's I Ching translation, and was looking out for a copy of the
Wilhelm edition to get more into it. Didnt want to buy a new copy
since it was kind of expensive so would browse flea markets. One
day saw a copy at a flea market and bought it. At home, noticed there
was an inscription in it by a mother to her son as a present on her
son's birthday. The birthday was the same as mine! (Same day, but
not same year.) I hadnt noticed this inscription at the fleamarket.
How wonderful, to have a mother's blessing on the bestowal of this
gift of wisdom!

Also heard a story of Carl Jung's encounter with the I Ching:
he had a dream about a magnolia tree 3 days before meeting the
I Ching scholar Wilhelm. The magnolia tree was imported to Europe
from China!

Since synchronicities tend to accompany K experiences, and since the
I Ching operates on the principle of synchronicity, it would seem
to be a valuable tool for any K'er. (not that I consider myself
a K'er, or even a wannabe, merely having brushed the boundaries once
or twice) (Probably other kinds of oracles are valuable, too, I am
only familiar with the I Ching)

Cheers,
Peter
