wow! so glad it spoke to you!
When I read it, I was amazed, and saw that here is something
that comes directly from the Source, on a par with all the
fundamental works, like Upanishads, Tao Te Ching, Hsin Hsin Ming, etc.

The person who told me about it, had been initiated on the path by it,
and took it so to heart, it almost flipped him out.

the only reference I have seen to Thaddeus Golas on the web, is there
was an actor on the movie Star Trek IV with that name. hmmmm

thought this might be a little amusing and/or
inspirational for some, happened to me last night:

woke up at 2am with a hacking cough so got out of bed and went
to sit in the living room, wrapped in a blanket with my walkman
tape player and a 90 minute cassette I had recorded from various
Cds of Gospel music from the 20's and 30's, Mahalia Jackson,
Rosetta Tharpe, Washington Phillips, and many more great ones,
listened to the whole thing with my eyes closed, just trying to
follow the spirit of the music.

After the tape finished, laid down on the couch, and as I drifted
off into sleep, for some reason the Simon and Garfunkel song
'Mrs Robinson' started running through my mind, which I havent
heard in years, and just as the lyric hit the phrase
'Jesus loves you more than you can know'
my whole body was filled with energy, all of a sudden, exactly on
the word 'Jesus' coming into my mind.

The energy built and built, and I tried to remember Thaddeus Golas's
advice on 'no resistance', and tried not to be scared, and I felt
enveloped in a luminous cloud of power and love, and I really felt
the reality of the phrase, 'Jesus loves you more than you can know'.

This went on for maybe 5 minutes, I slowly relaxed into the
experience, then I drifted off into sleep again.
Woke up a little buzzy, but made it to work...

oh well, nice to feel loved once in a while,
as the Gospel song says:

"He doesnt come often,
 But He stops by
 Every now and then."

cheers

then, may I ask a serious question:
why are you on the kundalini mailing list?
if kundalini is not involved in your practice,
either intentionally or unintentionally,
what are you doing here?

haha, yep, seems to be the preferred mode of practice

just say NO to zen!

Erik Johnson has done a little sketch of the 'fable' found
at the end of Golas's book, 'Lazy Man's Guide to Enlightenment'

So far, I have not been meditating on my chakras as much as I should. I have had no Kundalini experience, but I am looking for a Buddhist teacher who can help me awaken the serpent power and guide me on the beautiful path that I feel I should be on. I did have a spiritual experience this past summer in the Grand Canyon, that has fill my life with so much energy. Maybe my chakras are opening or have opened because I feel so much energy from myself and others that I know something has happened. If anyone feels that they are my teacher, or have some advice that would guide me on my path, I would appreciate it very much.Thank you and have a BEAUTIFUL day.

My kundalini first reached my crown about a year ago. In hind
sight I now realize that it had affected me long before that. As far back
as I can remember I have had low body temperature, pains, dizzyness, shakes
and spasms. Doctors could never give me an explanation, but I now realize
that all of these things were caused by kundalini running into blocks and
imperfections within me. These are on the mental, physical and spiritual
levels. The only thing I have ever found useful in dealing with it has been
to let go of everything.

oops, forgot to mention I am glad you *are* here.
I do appreciate your wit and wisdom, Lobster!
was just wondering if K has impacted your own
practice in some way that caused you to seek out the list.

For example, I am here because I was unintentionally hit by a
brief K episode for a few days a few years ago, which has
quieted down for the most part. As a result, I saw that K is one of the
unifying themes in the variety of religions, and also one of the
glaring gaps in western scientific understanding.

I should say my K had quieted down until I started listening to
classical African American Gospel Music!
I would not advise anyone who wants to keep their K quiet, to get up
at 4am and listen to 90 minutes of Mahalia Jackson, Rosetta Tharpe,
Marion Williams, and Dorothy Love Coates! No sirreee,
stay the heck away from that stuff! Glory!

Here's an account of my kundalini/awakening experience. After it
happened I started getting terrible headaches that went on for months
and numbness in my limbs so that my left leg and hand didn't seem to
be a part of me any more. About 2 months later I had what I can only
describe as an orgasmic seizure. Symptoms died down after that. Now
though the headaches are returning and the top of my head gets very
hot.

The Account....
Most of these details were written within a few days of the actual event. I want to
emphasise that words are so totally inadequate, they tend to reduce the experience
rather than illuminate it.Unfortunately the further away I get from it the more I am
reliant on the memories of impressions. It is less the event itself I recall, because it
is not recallable or tellable in its totality, but what I remember of my thoughts and
feelings and experiences in the moments adjacent to it (and probably during IT.)

Here's what happened as best I can remember and elucidate, in the order it occurred
 - up to the point where order stopped anyway. I include some background
because this probably has significance for why it happened in the first place.
It could also be used to explain why it was an hallucination as well.(although I
know it wasn't) It was around 10pm in my bedroom (in the UK)on my first day home after
a long holiday. I had spent the previous month in the USA with my partner who
lives there. I had the most wonderful, relaxing time living in a trailer in
 the countryside of West Virginia.

Holiday over, I flew out of Washington DC on the evening of 17th of September.
The flight was awful, I didn't sleep, and though I had flown several times before
with no concerns at all - on this occasion my mortality came very clearly into
focus. Anyway we landed safely at 7.00am and I went straight into work, where
I stayed all day. At 9.00pm I went to bed with a book - Scott M Peck's 'Further
along the road less travelled'. At this time then, I had been awake for over 30
hours. About halfway through the book Mr Peck relates an anecdote of a dinner
companion asking him to explain his latest book in a sentence, he failed - but then
he went on to relate how Jesus encapsulated the Christian message in a couple of
sentences. " Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart with all thy soul and with
all thy might. And love thy neighbour as thyself. "

Although these words were familiar, the depth of their meaning hit me then for
the first time. It was as though something clicked in my brain. It was like finding
the key to everything and opening the door. At that point I felt unbounded love
for everyone and every living thing - just an immensity of love, so that it was almost unbearable - I totally abandoned myself to that feeling. What happened next is difficult to describe because w
ords become inadequate. Here goes:

I felt overwhelmed by something, some pure clear clean cool essence or energy- love maybe, - pouring into me overflowing....in fact I think I said Oh a few times... then somewhere around this poin
t the experience occurred. All I can do is list impressions, thoughts and feelings I was able to store, the real thing is way beyond description or even logical recall - my brain couldn't handle the
totality of it. This account is like trying to recreate the whole animal from a footprint in the sand. - here follow the remnants...

Joy ecstasy love, I was immersed in and saturated with it. Understanding of what was going on came intuitively no one spoke to me - whilst in that state I understood exactly what it was all about, t
he meaning of life, the hows, whys and wherefores of the universe, everything.

We are all in but not aware of this dimension all of the time. We are all one light but separate also. This doesn't make sense in our regular consciousness but did in that state. We are here when al
ive but don't know it - I identified my boyfriend's essence/energy I remember
thinking 'It doesn't matter if I never see him again in the physical earthly sense
because at this level we are always together, and just wanting to be with him was
faintly ridiculous - because there's this dimension full of love there. In the next 6
months we'll probably spend a week together but I didn't care at all then, it didn't matter.
I also thought I could get back there anytime (this is proving more difficult )

Other stuff
Material things and our desire for them seemed totally idiotic and unimportant
- money, goods, status, age. All the human defences and facades we create to hide
from each other are a nonsense because we are all one - making reactions like fear
and jealousy a waste of time and energy. All the things we do to sustain our self
 image are redundant here.

Death (physical) is a release. Our body is anchoring us in space and time.
Life as we know it is only the tiniest bit of what comes after.

Now the Nots
I didn't see any people shaped apparitions
No-one spoke to me - I understood everything intuitively
No tunnel - as in some Near Death Experiencess
No evil or fear
I didn't leave my body and look down on it I have no recollection of my body at all - BUT, it was like my consciousness was everywhere at the same time.

K'ers:

Please correct me if I am wrong. The 100th monkey was a research project and
was shown as a documentary on television.

The researchers would feed the monkeys various foods, the food would land on
the sand, and having done so, would pick up sand. They (the monkeys) having
prehensile hands, tried to clean the sand away by brushing it off.

One little monkey walked over to the waters edge, and washed the sand off
the food before eating. Soon another who had watched the first monkey,
imitated the first by washing the food prior to eating. Gradually, one by
one, the monkeys got the idea and would wash their food before eating.
Hence, the syndrome of the hundred monkeys.

In defense of Kathy:
In essence, Kathy was perhaps saying that one by one, we show the way onto
the path of "K' awakening. One person will trigger another and so on, until
each and everyone who wishes to join the spiritual path will do so.

And now to my soapbox:
We are special, each and every one of us. Creator does not make souls who
are not special. We are all connected... that is the way it is. In any
event, we can pave the way with our experiences. Perhaps the next person who
has an awakening, and is not prepared, and whom without our experiences to
tell him/her what it is, would not have a clue as to what has transpired,
and go through much agony. Rather like pioneers, due to the fact that for
years only a select few knew about the process and rather kept the secret to
themselves, not sharing, leaving many to float in a sea of unknowing and
often confined to the asylum.

Perhaps, not knowing the earth years of the K'ers, there are few of you who
have experienced the awakening are not old enough to remember when...
Nothing was available to the earnest researcher who wanted to know more
about spirituality. In the bookstore in a special aisle labeled OCCULT, (set
in the further back end of the store) was a very limited book supply on
esoteric material and not very well written. People would think that all who
stopped by this aisle to view the literature was a either a person who was
in league with a demon or a witch who practiced black magic.

Let's give credit to Shirley McClaine, whom without her shocking books would
not have
raised the consciouness of many in todays society. Now that it is in the
open, people are free to speak of kundalini, angels, E.T's, OOBE's and know
of that which they speak. Edgar Cayce material has been released by the
score, as well as the reprinting of material written in the late nineteenth
century. Ah progress.

The gurus came along in the sixties. Does anyone remember the commotion that
was raised? Finally this secret esoteric material came out in the open.
People seeking the spiritual path finally found a way. Thank them and
remember them with thoughts of love.

Now books are written in a concise manner that we can all understand. There
are books on kundalini, chakras, NDE, past lives, ET's, remote viewing,
astro travel, you name it, someone has written a book on the subject.

I am sure there will be much controversy, but that's what makes each of us
unique. And now I step down from my soapbox and see what transpires. love '
light dor

Hi beloved K friends!

Just thought I'd update you on how I solved the blocked throat chakra
problem.

I listened to the guidance of Spirit to fix the problem. Taking three
quartz cystals which where in the sunlight all day, placed them in a
triangle pattern under my pillow. In the middle of the triangle pattern
I placed a amethyst crystal and below the triangle (where my neck would
be), I placed a citrine crystal. With an amethyst in each hand, the
meditation began.

The mistress serpent made her journey to the top this time. It wasn't as
intense spiritually as some other K-episodes, but it was the most erotic
yet. My entire body felt as if it were held in an orgasm for about 20
minutes. There were no flashes of light in my head as in previous times,
but the electrifying, orgasmic state of my physical body was exquisite.
I walked around the whole day weak-kneed and buzzing.

When the serpent mistress decides to take me out to the stars and to the
astral planes, I'll be ready. I will submit to the will of the Goddess.
She's the most incredible love I've ever had.

Divine light & love
Ronald

P.S. By the way, cigarettes are no longer a factor in my life, for 1½
months. It sure helps with my deep-breathing yoga/meditations. The
Serpent Goddess approves :)

I am thinking of taking a class in Kundalini Yoga starting in two weeks, it
has been mentioned to me in astrology mostly that this would be a good thing
for me........

What I am looking for is physical fitness and mental clarity (meditation
style stuff)

>From all I've read here and on the resource pages, this is not what I am in

Anyone care to help me figure out if I really want to do this or not? Is
there such a thing in Kundalini as just yoga and meditation?

Thank you in advance for your help

I too have read that this whole thing is pseudoscience, anyway,
for what its worth, here is a pro and con:

the entire text of the original book is on the web at:

http://suburbia.net/~jchoy/monkintr.html
>
The Hundredth Monkey by Ken Keyes, jr. This book shows you how we have
the creativity and power to change both ourselves and the world. You are
introduced a radical new way of realizing the impact of your energy on
the world around you - a quantum leap in consciousness, as inspired by
the legend of the
Hundredth Monkey. You'll find here the facts about nuclear armaments
that some people don't want you to know. The failure of a 46 cents
computer part could
sound a false alarm that enemy missiles are on their way. An all-out
nuclear war in the first few weeks can kill about half the people on
earth - and cause leukemia,
cancer, and birth defects in the people in all countries. Are you
willing to live in such an insane world?
The Hundredth Monkey was written by a successful author whose books now
total over 3.25 million copies. So urgent is this information that he
has not
copyrighted it. He feels that his survival and yours (is there any
difference?) are more important than anything else.
Your life and well-being are at stake. This book tells you what you can
do about it. It gives you hope and direction.
<

yep, the words skeptics love to hate: 'it gives you hope and direction'.
here is a critique of the story:

The Hundredth Monkey And Other Paradigms Of The Paranormal

     Kendrick Frazier, ed.
     1991, Prometheus Books; 350p.

A fine collection of Skeptical Inquirer articles. Many of the pieces
contain postscripts and updates, and multi-part studies are presented in
their entirety; countering
defenses against refutations of such classic stories of the paranormal
as the MJ12 UFO hoax, Whitley Streiber's "Communion" abduction stories,
astrological
claims, or reports of so-called responsive xenoglossy (speaking in
tongues under hypnotic regression). Other topics covered and debunked
are The Hundredth
Monkey phenomena (evidence for telepathic groupthink among macaques),
homeopathy and other fringe health issues (six articles), graphology
(two articles), the
Pons/Fleischmann cold fusion affair, and spontaneous human combustion.
The opening theoretical essays are slightly repetitive, but the book
overall serves as a
vade mecum in confronting paranormal and "New Age" claims.

Hi all

New to the list and already have a question.........
Psychosynthesis is an approach to human development fostered by Roberto Assagioli. Roberto describes the transpersonal dimension (spiritual crisis) awakening of the soul in great detail in one of his chapters.

Is Roberto really describing the psychological effects of kundalini?

Hi,

>Please correct me if I am wrong. The 100th monkey was a research project and
>was shown as a documentary on television.

Ken Keyes, Jr. wrote about this in his book "The Hundredth Monkey" and it
appears to be an actual research project conducted from 1952-1958. Monkeys
on the island of Koshima were given sweet potatos, and learned to wash off
the grit by dipping them in nearby streams. It started with one monkey,
then spread to the rest by 1958. Not particularly surprising--until you
consider that despite the fact this group was isolated on the island of
Koshima, monkeys on other islands also began to wash their sweet potatos.

Hope this helps with the researching.

Hi Sheri!

>What I am looking for is physical fitness and mental clarity (meditation

I'm afraid I missed the earlier posts on this thread so I hope you will
forgive me if I'm answering this out of context.

There is a kind of chi kung (Chinese energy meditation) that I do that
might be what you are interested in. It is called Zhan Zhuang
(pronounced Jan Jong) standing meditation. It is really very simple.
You hold your body in certain postures for longer and longer periods
of time. It will increase the circulation of chi in your body while
strengthening it at the same time. After some months of practice it
is not unusual for meridians to open to greater flow spontaneously.

I like it because it is a physical, mental, and energetic exercise
all rolled into one :)

It's not as easy as it sounds!
If you hold a posture for 5-10mins you'll see what I mean... :)

For those reading this who do martial arts (especially Tai Chi), this
exercise is the key to developing "Jing" or internal power. Anyone
read "Way of the Peaceful Warrior?" Dan was doing this kind of
standing meditaton.

If you are interested in learing more about this kind of meditation,
the best book I know of on it is "The Way of Energy" by Lam
Kam Chuen.

Hi Ms Serpent,

Some excellent mature points made in your recent post:

> They problem with thinking of onself in terms of being part of a special,
> chosen group is the assumption of the prescence of a non-chosen group to be
> superior to, and them back we are into judgement and separation again. The

I am a weak individual
knowing that
is my strength
Within us all is a special "light"
that is beyond all knowledge or expression
and through choice of Will
we align our lives with it
and serve its purpose
which is to Serve all
and with this light we know
we are the Best of people
and the worst
and all the range in between
but we try
and we try
until we succeed at last . . .

> It is equally important to honor the dark side of our Tao, and to seek to
> know it's lessons and purpose. We must shed light into these places as well,
> to progress onward.

Come over to the Dark side of the Force
who should be there? (no not Daath Vaader)
but ourselves reaching for the light

A more beautiful expression never adorned a doormat. If we could only
have wind chimes above it singing:

Swirling around the center, taste the fruit of clear direction, always
within easy reach.

My seasoned alderwood burns brightly
How stupid of the spider to ride it into the fire
Fire, colors and the sparkle of cordite
How stupid to stand in the way of swiftly moving objects

I love the color of my blood and habor no malice
for the daisies who use it to mark my trail.

I love our stupidity
For without it
I would never have found you.
